@mauibliss get one of these- you can't kill it. My friend gave me one years ago and it lived on and on and on until I finally broke the pot and I trashed it. You only have to refill it with water ever so often.
Not true! My coworker killed hers somehow! It grew mold and fell over... lol.

I've killed close to a dozen of these damn things over the years.
Yeah, I had one that started to mold last year. It was pretty. Plants are dumb.

no its not mud and i am a christian. if you do your research you would find out that in the 1800s this was normal compared to our screwed up society now no its not "mud" its my life. and your comments about my husband are very rude and disrepectful.
True but a few things have changed since then.... like the statutory rape age.

Well then I'll take the rude title this evening, I think he's icky and I stand by it.

Also, if this isn't mud, I am so heartbroken for you that you can't see the issues with this. You were cheated out of a childhood. No 14 year old is ready for marriage, and if you can't see that I really feel like you were indoctrinated by your family and a pedophile to think this is OK.
If the age of consent in Alabama is 16, and she was 14, married, and TTC with a 26yo, how is this not statutory rape?

In case this is not MUD...the OP is not the one we should be directing our frustration/anger at. She's the victim, whether she realizes it or not. I think we can back off of her. As I said OP, you're in my thoughts and prayers.
This 100%.

This was my first question. So your parents can just sign a piece of paper making it alright for a grown man to rape you?
Because it is rape. You were not old enough to make that decision, which is why you needed your parents' permission, and were taken advantage of by a grown man.
Hi Everyone! I'm 28,I have never posted before but have been browsing around since i became pregnant with our first DD that took 13 year's ttc.Thinking about starting to tfas. Just wanted to introduce myself. Good Luck to everyone in the road to a BFP!
Although I can't say I understand wanting to get married at 14, especially to someone much older, that isn't what's stuck in my craw.
I'm more skeeved out by a 15 year old TTC. You're not even out of high school, yo.

OP, if you really are in a healthy relationship now, regardless of how inappropriately it began, have at it. A 12 year age difference isn't a big deal, but it is when the child is 14. Just please don't put up with things just because of tradition or that's how it used to be.

You know what? TTGP catches a lot of shit for being bitchy, and this thread is evidence that this is not the case. Everyone stayed nice and respectful.
Isn't that statutory rape?
I can not wrap my brain around this. How is it OK to get married because your parents sign off on it when the sex itself is illegal?
Alabama probably still has a "you can't rape your wife" statute.
This was my thought.
PS my DD is not dating until she is 20.

This is not what I expected from in an intro thread. This just breaks my heart to read something so F'ed up. I have to say that a grown man married to a 14 year old is really off to me. You said this isn't MUD but my heart just prays that it really is a made up story.
I'm a little shocked at the "kudos for making it work this long" comment. Do you think she'd really have a choice to leave if she wasn't happy in the marriage? I'm disgusted by both the OPs husband and parents. They robbed this OP of her childhood. No 14 year old can make the choice to throw their life away at the behest of a grown man and now she's sucked so far into this life that it's all she's ever known, and thinks it's totally acceptable. I feel so sorry for her.
I know our comments won't change anything, but the fact that in the United States, in the 2000s (because let's not forget this took place in like 2001-2002) this sort of thing is legal is beyond me. I'm so disgusted, I can't even.
I knew someone when I lived in TX who got married at 14 but they were BOTH 14. I'm a Christian and I believe it is within my Biblical rights to cut off the balls of a 26 year old man who has known sexual thoughts towards my beautiful baby girl (at 14). I can't even fathom the kind of mother who would allow that. It's not the age difference that bothers me, it's the age itself. This is literally making me vomit and cry angry tears at the same time.
In case this isn't MUD I wanted to reach out and write this:
I understand that this may be hard to hear, hard to understand, and hard to consider but I feel a deep need to reach out. You are not responsible for your husband's actions or decisions in life. You are also in no way responsible for the results of your family's behavior. You are...and will forever be the victim in this case.
It breaks my heart if this is true and causes a great strain in trying to determine if it is or not. If it is, I can deeply relate to your experience and I have a story that I would love to share with you if you are willing to listen. If it isn't true, shame on you, this was in no way shape or form funny, amusing, entertaining, or relatively a joke.

I mean, OP had to know the "13 years" comment would stir up some commotion. A big part of me thinks this was for attention.
I don't know. It just seems like MUD to me.
If it is for real, then, we really have no say or control over what OP does. It's her life.
I don't agree with it but, *shrug*.

Honestly if you are not legally allowed to get a job without a school work permit you probably are not old enough to be a wife.
