I know a few of you have said that your LOs have a word or two, but are your LOs recognizing any words?
LO hears us and responds to our voices but I don't think there is much meaning to any of our words yet. He doesn't know his name but I am guessing part of that has to do with the fact that we call him so many things.
Not worried at all just curious as to others.
Re: LO understanding
We've been testing LO to see if he recognizes his name. My husband would call him (Nicholas) and he'd look over. Then he'd say "Watermelon" and he'd look over, lol.
But it's been a few weeks and we did it again over the weekend and he only responded to his name so I think he knows he's Nicholas.
He also knows "leche" and "lechita" because he gets crazy excited when I talk about warming up a bottle for him.
I think she also understands "come here" - I say it when I'm about to pick her up & she reaches for me or leans toward me/rolls toward me.
We've also been working on "hands up" when putting the tray on the high chair, she seemed to be making the connection yesterday.
Eta: her only real word so far is mama & I think she knows it's me. When she's upset she'll start saying it & reach for me. Talk about Instant heart melting!
She knows mama and dada. She is starting to say mama and look for me. Melts my heart.
Can't wait for mama and dada though.
He knows and responds to his name. I was so proud... we met a man while out for a walk. The man said "Hi, Wesley" and LO looked right up at him.
He knows kitty and he knows clap. He might know kiss, but I'm still not sure.
He babbles, but still no real words.
I don't know if she knows I'm "mama" yet, but she does say it, especially when she's upset. She tries to copy a lot of what we say. It's really cute.
I can't wait to hear an "I love you, mama." I might just die.
LO isn't saying any words yet. She uses consonant sounds when she babbles, so it sometimes sounds like "mama" or "dada," but I don't think she associates those words with me/DH. I do think she understands "fuzzy" (the name for her special blanket) and "Teddie" (our dog's name). Every time I put her down for a nap, I tell her "It's time for a nap," so she may understand that, but I'm not sure.
It's funny that this was posted because just yesterday I read on WebMD that a baby LO's age should be recognizing her own name. I am not sure if she does. We call her Bug a lot, but I told DH he needs to start using her name more than her nickname, I don't want her to think that her name is Bug.
She has said "dada" repeatedly but I am not sure that she has made the connection that Dada is DH yet.
If I ask him for a kiss he licks my nose. I am not sure where he learned it. If I hold a teddy and say "kisses" he will put their nose in his mouth. He is either going to get all the ladies with the move, or none.
BFP 3/29/2014 2u2 Let's do this!
When we say "up" she will put her hands up and reach for us.
When we say "hi" or bye" she always waves.
She only says da-da. And lots of babbles and raspberries!
