I always joke to my mom that if we only have boys the last one is going to get dressed in little dresses and bows at least once so I can have my fun! This is typically when we are at the store oohing and aahing over the baby girl section. But I know DH would never let me.
@Sing2phins I put E in one of those headbands once too. Like you said, it came with the outfit. It lasted maybe 20 minutes before I couldn't take it anymore and took it off.
We had a lot of negative feedback on E's Batman onesie. It was the first thing DH bought for the baby before we even found out the gender (not that it matters, girls can wear and like batman too). He was so excited when he found it and couldn't wait to put it on E. He dressed her in it any chance he had and she looked adorable. Some people were really upset that we dressed her in it and said that it's not good for her self esteem because she would get her feelings hurt if people thought she was a boy. I told them that she was a month old and didn't even understand the difference anyway.
I don't understand the big deal either if someone asks if she's a boy or girl. I just say that she's a girl and it's the end of it. It doesn't offend me and it sure doesn't offend E.
Your story reminds me of when L was 3 weeks old. We had just gotten out of the pediatricians office and this woman looks into the car seat and oohs and aahs, followed by this question/statement: "It is a boy right? I mean, you would not be dressing a girl that way!" Mind you my little guy was wearing a striped Velcro monster sleeper.. I was so pissed when she said that. Girls can very well wear monster sleepers god dammit!!
New one today...when you give people parameters for a task, i.e. funding is this much, space is this much, we can't go over these amounts, but tell me your thoughts so I can bring them forward...and they go over them, then get pissy because you tell them no as that would be over the funding AND the space amount we've been approved for....grrrr.....
