Lanolin - Safe for Breastfeeding?

Does anyone know if  lanolin creams are safe to use while breastfeeding? I used it for dry, cracked nipples while breastfeeding my first two LO's. I've changed all my skincare products within the last year, opting for safer chemical free stuff. I plan on nursing our third, and will most likely need something like lanolin. If it isn't "safe", does anyone recommend anything else?

Lanolin is an animal product so if you were to buy pure lanolin then there should be no chemicals in it at all. It is just the greasy substance found on the wool of sheep so, although I've done no research, I would say it would be safer than any other cream you would find.

If you are worried about it, try The First Years brand Lanolin Free Nipple Butter.  You can get it at Walmart.  It also has organic ingredients.  I love it.  The lanolin stuff irritates my nipples.

We have Earth Mama Angel Baby brand  lanolin free nipple butter.  It smells like chocolate, and it doesn't clog your pores or ducts.
