Bath time

If you love your baby bath tub, please tell me what kind you have.  Up until tonight we were using the newborn sling that came with our tub, but LO cried the whole time because she was cold.  So I was excited to be able to actually put her in the tub in the water tonight now that her cord has fallen off, she cried a little less but she kept sliding down.  I had a hard time washing her because I was trying to hold her up.

Also, where do you bathe LO?  We've been putting her tub in our tub, but my back was killing me and the tub kept sliding around.  I'll take any suggestions to make this easier.

Re: Bath time

  • I have the FP whale of a tub. It doesn't have a sling just a bump type thing that props LO up into the shallow water. I love it! It submerges her nicely and she doesn't slide at all. As for where to bathe them, I'm doing the tub in the tub so no suggestions there.

  • I have the FP Ocean Wonders. We put the tub on the bathroom counter and I've never had any back issues. Harper doesn't slide down and I will it enough so that her lower body is covered.

  • We have the big blue tub with the sling insert from BRU. He flippin loves bath time. I had been doing it in the kitchen sink.. There are little grooves in the tub made especially so you can do that. However, I put his tub in the guest room tub tonight and my herniated disk is certainly paying the price now.
  • We do bath time in our bathroom sink (which is large and shallow.) and we just put a towel in the bottom and roll on side for her head/neck. So the towel is submerged and her head is stable.

We use the sling part too . But we have a " tummy towel " we registered for at BRU it's just an over sized wash cloth in the shape of a duck that you put on them so they stay warm . And my LO looooves baths ! We just run it over warm water and lay it on her belly , we wash her legs while the belly is covered then wash her belly while her legs are covered etc . I just fill the tub up in our bathroom and put it on the bathroom counter , it's easier while she's still little .

  • I have a tub with a sling (can't remember the name of it) but we also do the warm wash cloth on her. So far she seems to love bath time. I also have a small plastic cup I use to poor warm water over her belly and legs. She loves that. And we put the tub on the bathroom counter. I've considered putting it on the kitchen table as well.
  • We have the Eurobath.

It says 0-24 months but I don't think it works for newborns. We tried it at 3-4 weeks once her cord stump fell off. She slid around and seemed dangerous because she flails her head around. We went back to sponge baths. Safer and easier. We will try the tub again once LO has more control of her head.
  • This is what we have. I put it in our kitchen sink and have him face me. He wiggles around some but not enough to where I'm concerned. He loves bath. He also loves the sprayer, so I use that to rinse him and play.

We do this, but with just a regular washcloth at the kitchen sink.

  • Try putting the tub on the kitchen counter or table it definitely saves the back

  • Whale of a tub. Mia loves it. For now I actually put the tub on my bed for bathing her.
  • We have the Boon Naked bath and I don't care for it. I've switched to a Winnie the Pooh tub with the sling, it's much easier. I put it on the kitchen counter so I can have access to the sprayer we have in that sink. I also have a blooming bath but haven't tried it yet.
  • Try using a little bit warmer water and keeping a washcloth over her tummy.

  • I have the FP whale tub and it is awesome! I can prop him up in it and he doesn't slide around at all. Makes baths so easy. He loves getting a bath!
  • We have the summer infant sling and just put a wash cloth on her tummy.
  • We have the blue babies r us tub. We lay a hand towel down for extra warmth and to help hold her in place.

  • Whatever you do, don't buy the "safety 1st" I think its called "grow with me tub? Its got a collapsible tub, mesh thing to put baby on, and little turtle sponge. The thing is a giant piece of crap! It doesn't hold water, baby constantly wiggles down in it, and the mesh/wire bather rack thingy is rusting on the bottom! Super lame!

we also have the eurobath, and it works bc we also have a sponge that LO sits on- https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12293405

  • We have the blooming bath, and like it. It is very comfortable for LO. My only complaint is it doesn't always hold the water in the bath, sometimes it leaks between the "petals".

  • We just have the sponge from BRU and we lay it in the bathtub and put a warm cloth over ds's belly to keep him from getting cold. He is very content with it and bath time is really pretty easy until I go to get him out. Without fail he poops or pees as soon as he is wrapped in a towel!
  • We're bathing in the kitchen sink & we have the blooming bath as well & LO loves it so far. I tuck 2 petals under so he's more proper up & he can kick his feet in the water.

PS: This photo was from like 3 weeks ago. He's definitely not that small anymore. Lol
  • I have a little tub for him but I've been just bringing him in the shower with me. We have a shower/tub combo and I just sit down with him and lay him on my legs. He loves it and stays nice and warm. And I have more control over his wiggly body. Eventually we will go back to his tub once he has more head/body control. Those little babes are slippery!

  • We haven't used one this time around. I put enough water in the regular tub to lay LO on her back without her being able to get water in her nose/mouth when she turns her head to the side and just lay her on her back.

  • Dissenting opinion here: we have a tub but have discovered that our little one absolutely loves taking a shower with dad. It's my husband's favorite thing to do with the baby. Jack just loves it and is so calm afterward,

  • We have the Summer Lil Luxuries infant tub (it has a shower head type thing and little jets for a full spa type experience), I bought one for my bff when she had her son, one for my niece when she had her girl, and I just had to have one when I did my registry. LO just LOVES it and we haven't even done the jets yet. We set it up on the kitchen counter and keep her elevated with the raised sling type thing, no slipping or sliding and she stays warm and cozy and so cute.
  • We have the blue BRU bath too and use it in the kitchen sink. We do showers more often though! They love that!
