Trouble TTC

Shady Grove?

Wondering if anyone has any experience with/opinions on Shady Grove.  DH and I have been at a local clinic until now because we supposedly got 25% off of our cycles there, but they've since done away with this (and because I'm not convinced they know what they're doing), we're ready to move on.  If you're more comfortable to PM me, please feel free.

Re: Shady Grove?

  • I think you're from my area.  Do you mind sharing where you're currently cycling?

  • I'm there at the T location in MD. It absolutely is a baby-making factory, but I'm not bothered by that. I feel like everyone actually does care and is really good at his/her job.

I do think that the attention individualization comes with IF history. My RE told me--before we even started testing-- that he was almost positive we'd start with clomid IUIs. He requested insurance approval from them at our initial consultation. As the time has--unfortunately--passed, I feel like be knows me and truly wants me to be successful.

It's not perfect. But it feels like the right place for me.

  • I had a friend go through IVF and FET at Shady Grove in VA. She had very good things to say about them. I probably would have gone there if I was a bit closer.

  • *Baby mentioned* I went to Shady Grove the T location for my monitoring appointments as well as my Iui's and I nothing but great things to say about them the Re's are wonderful there as well as the nurses as well as everyone at the front desk. We had nothing but a great experience with them during a very emotional time in our life. I'm happy to say that because of shady grove we have our miracle baby on the way due in October. Don't let the size of their practice scare you away they really know what they are doing there . They are compassionate especially at the location I went to. Goodluck with everything!!

  • I'm a patient with shady grove. I'm in one of their newer offices and one of the only things keeping me at this particular office is convenience. It's half hour away from my house. I'm able to pop in for testing and get back out and head to work. The office I visit is still working out all of their kinks.

Shady Grove absolutely is a baby making factory. With that being said, I have been happy with most of my dealings with the staff. My nurse is very nice and when I have had to go to Rockville for procedures or Annapolis for ultrasounds I have been very happy.

Married on October 20, 2012.  Began trying in January 2013.
RE appointment & testing December 2013 - February 2014= Unexplained IF, possible endometriosis
IUI#1- March 22 (100mg clomid, 75 mg of Bravelle, Ovidrel trigger) = BFP!!!

  • Outside of not having a kid yet, I haven't had any complaints with Shady Grove. My RE is very caring and attentive, I always get personalized care from him. I love the fact that I can monitor at various locations if need be. There is an office 15min from work, and another 20min from home. But as with any practice, each doctor is different. SG as a whole is great, but from what I hear you will find some rusty spots every now and again.

  • I've been to SG and GW and think both places are baby making factories and are certainly focused on $. I'm ok with that though so long as we finally get a BFP that sticks.
Ready to take the road less traveled.
  • I also go to a satellite office (same one as CandaceC1020) and I agree that it's a baby-making assembly line... but it's convenient and they have a ton of doctors. If you're monitoring over a long cycle, you'll have more than one doc look at your stuff which has actually given me peace of mind a few times.

  • I'm just giggling imagining how many of you have probably seen each other in the waiting room at one time or another and not even realized it
I figured out who Runaway Laurel was through PM's - we were at the office the date of my first appointment.  I finally introduced myself last week.  :)

I had no idea that some of you went to SG!

  • Not sure if any of you have appointments this week .... I had an appointment at the Waldorf office this morning and they had a breakfast spread in celebration of NIAW.  Breakfast will be available every morning.  They also had these nice little pins.
