Getting Back Into Shape - What's Your Plan?

Re: Getting Back Into Shape - What's Your Plan?

  • Thanks to HG during my pregnancy I am already back at my pre pregnancy weight (just slightly below), but I need to tighten up a bit. I wanna do the 30 squat challenge and then the 30 day ab challenge. Hoping to cut out soda and sugar of all kinds (it's been my weakness).

  • I'm just over four weeks pp from a c-section. I started (and love!!) Weight Watchers four weeks ago. I really like that it accommodates breast feeding with extra points and has so far been really easy to follow. I'm at my pre-preg weight, but am DEFINITELY not as toned!!

I started training for a 5k (Dirty Girl mud run!!) as soon as I was cleared to start working out a couple of weeks ago; I'll add Pilates this week (my mom is an instructor...hopefully it will be fun and we won't wind up wanting to kill each other after a session...ha!). It feels so so so good to be working out again!! I hope to hell that good, motivated feeling sticks around!

Oh and i have to add, on that itty bitty run I did yesterday, holy hell were my boobs uncomfortable! I pumped right before but prior to pregnancy I was barely a B cup and now I'm about a big C small D. I don't know how ladies with a chest run it do high impact workouts! I had a very supportive sports bra on but felt like they were all over the place! I told dh and he was disappointed that he didn't get to see the show. I think he is picturing something out of Baywatch,..definitely not what it looked like!

I have always had to wear 2 sports bras (pre preg DD)! I'm scared that won't even help me now.

I'm 2 weeks pp and have lost all my pregnancy weight but I want to lose 10 more. I was a runner before so once I get cleared I will start training again. I usually run races all spring so hoping I can get a few in.

  • I've been trying to eat well, mostly clean eating principles which helps since I'm starving all the time. I'm EBFing which seems to have helped so far, I havwe about 10 lbs of pregnancy weight left (3w pp) abd then I'd like to lose another 5-10. I'd really like to focus on weights/strength training. I plan on walking with LO and doing some Jillian Michaels videos after I'm cleared in a few weeks.

I am bummed to say I gained most of my weight near the end of my pregnancy and only lost 16 of that since birth. I am about the same as I was after DS' s birth but with this pregnancy I was 20lbs lighter before DS' so pregnancy. So I gained more with this pregnancy. I have about 28lbs to get to PreP weight. I have a fitbit and trying to do yoga everyday. My hips from SPD hold me back but I've been seeing a chiropractor. I am slowly gaining strength. Also, BFing doesn't guarantee You will lose weight. I EBF DS and it wasn't until after he was nursing only in evenings did I really start to lose weight. I think my body stores weight while nursing.

  • Ladies who run - how many weeks PP were you comfortable running again??

    Anniversary

  • I don't know what I'm going to do. I still have about 2 weeks before I'm cleared to exercise, though I am going for walks. I plan to eat well, breastfeed, get back to running, and try to fit in weight training. I'll try to play some ultimate frisbee as well. But I still have 40lbs to lose and I've already lost 34. It's going to be a challenge.

My doctor advised I not begin running again until 12 weeks PP (I'm 3 weeks now). I've been feeling like I could again sooner though so I'm going to ask him again at 5 wks. His concern was for my joints. Apparently, they are more prone to injury in this window of time...?

Generally speaking, I've really done nothing yet except adhere to the paleo diet about 90% of the time, and am about 5lbs and a lot of weight training away from being in my pre-preg state. I start weights and swimming again next week and am so excited. I still don't fit into my pre-preg clothing, and need to by June when I go back to work... so that's good motivation.

  • Jeez, I didn't even think about what it will be like to run with my big boobs! Guess I need to buy some bigger sports bras.

  • My other BMB put together a Facebook group and we did those ad/squats challenges, friends on myfitnesspal, fitbit etc... and helped each other out. I would love to have something for this group since we are all on the same page so to speak.

So it was a group just for getting healthy together? I will start a FB group if there is interest.

  • I'm down 15 pounds, want to lose another 20-30 pounds. I have been eating really healthy, and today I'm starting the Master Cleanse for at least 10 days. It always helps clear me up, get me detoxed and feeling better.

  • I've lost half of my pregnancy weight so far. The 3 week growth spurt this weekend was good for 3 more pounds. Yay for breastfeeding every two hours around the clock! I still bleed more when I'm active, so I'm holding off on the exercise for awhile longer. I'll participate in this group on the future though.

I was the third of my friends to find out we were pregnant on like day 15 of the squat and ab challenges. BE CAREFUL!!!!!!
Ah! Thanks for the warning!!! Better get the mini pill sooner rather than later! Funny enough, if I started today then day 15 would be right around 6 weeks pp and just in time for us to actually have sex again!

Did you notice a difference in those 15 days though, did the challenge work?

I still have 3 weeks until I should be cleared, but I plan on half marathon training for the Disney race weekend in January. I know it is a bit far out, but I am basically starting at zero since I hadn't run 6 mo prior to my BFP.

I have run half and full marathons before, so it is definately doable. I just have to find the motivation.

And training means I have to eat well. Otherwise I get stomach issues on long runs.

Those races are so fun! I did the Goofy Challenge one year and had so much fun!
Wow! The Goofy is intense. My Mom just did the Dopey this January which was the first year they offered it. But she is insane.
  • Everyone should join @jbelle work out check in.
Half marathon training, breast feeding, eating well. Pre baby I was running marathons, now short walks is all I'm doing.
@Anneplusone: thanks for the tag… I was thinking the getting healthy check in was taking over, so maybe I'll post a poll. Perhaps the workout check in should become a 5k challenge check in.

I'm working on getting back to eating clean, smaller portions, more frequently. I've been walking up a storm and today did my first workout. I'd like to start jogging next week if this weeks workouts go well. I was in the best shape if my life before my bfp so this flabby state isn't working for me. And once I get back to teaching yoga and Pilates next month my core should start coming back!
