I sing folk songs, including the old English ones where everyone dies or is murdered in the end. "Barbara Allen" is a favorite (she and her lover both die. It's probably one of the oldest known songs in the English language.) Totally inappropriate. ;-)
I also sing more modern folk like Pete Seeger. MH sings the Grateful Dead's "Ripple" a lot.
90s country is the only thing that gets tan man to sleep. I've worn holes in my socks walking/dancing with him to lots of older George straight, Garth brooks, Reba ("Fancy" for the win!), etc etc..
I find 'You are my sunshine' creepy! If you know the other verses it's actually sad and kind of threatening! "I'll always love you and make you happy If you will only say the same, But if you leave me to love another You'll regret it all someday"
Earlier tonight while changing her diaper I used her legs to move her butt and sang "booty booty booty booty rocking everywhere. I found you, miss bare booty". She's also a fan of Van Morrison. I like to make up songs for her all the time, which I used to do about my daily tasks prior to BFP
@pepperedmoth I'm more of just a general music history nerd. I grew up in West Virginia, so every now and again you would hear the really old Child ballads at festivals. Honestly though most of my knowledge comes from taking music and ethnomusicology electives in college and grad school.
Chris Young soothes her instantly (especially Aw Naw), but we also sing and dance to Luke Bryan (Country Girl). Her daddy gives me a look, but it works!
Re: What do you sing to your LO?
I'm totally getting the Queen/Journey/Rolling Stones ones too

But if you leave me to love another
You'll regret it all someday"
