House selling issues --- Update

You guys, our buyer wants to delay closing. At some point he was looking for loopholes in the contract to get out of it and take his good faith money too. I am so pissed beyond belief. He only put in $500 (instead of the typical 1k; we figured he needed to save his cash for closing). He waived the inspection.

We stand to lose our new house if we can't close. I am soooooo livid!!!!! I need to go find a kickboxing class or something to let go of my anger and frustration. My ILs couldn't help with DD last night. DH and I really need to talk without her around.

The proposed closing date was April 22nd. The contract said on or before the 24th. Damn it! Damn it! Fuck! Okay, swearing doesn't help much. Lol

Update: We put on a lot of pressure and we got our closing date. Hurray! Nothing is official till those papers are signed. Let's hope it goes through. I cannot wait to be moved in to the new house.

  • Omg, I'm livid for you.

How far off does he want to delay closing until?
Was there any other offers by anyone else you can maybe touch base with & see if they're still interested?
May 2nd-5th. No other offers. Just other tours. We signed a contract after only 7 days on the market. If we push till May we need to draft new contracts and don't know if the sellers will want to do that. It's a seller's market where we're moving. We were lucky to get this house. Now there's a chance we'll lose it. Plus, there will be so much money lost if we wait till May. Higher interest rate at the bank. My parents took vacation. The trucks and moving helpers are booked. Thanks for letting me rant.

That sucks.  We also had a buyer back out on us from a sale and we didn't get to keep the deposit either.  I don't understand the point of the deposit if it isn't forfeited if you back out.  We also had financing fall through for another couple.  Last sale we had a buyer but did not have a good feeling because it was conditional on selling their house and they were in the middle of a messy divorce.  Our agent wanted to sit back since he had a sale but we kept pushing and found another buyer.  We were lucky because the first couple's house sat on the market for months afterwards.

Long story short selling houses sucks and I really hope it works out for you.

  • That's awful! I am sorry! I can't stand when people go back on their word, especially when it's as big of a deal as this. Fingers crossed that everything goes through!

Sorry. I hope you guys have better luck! Our situation might even work out if the sellers will let us sign an addendum to the contract. It definitely got our blood pressure up, though. I am a planner and this kills me. Must drink all the wine tonight.

Ya I hate when people change their mind about the contract. The seller of our house pushed the closing date to two weeks later and I'm glad our loan wasn't change since her new house closing was pushed back too.

That's frustrating. Just need to keep thinking positives. Two months from now we will be in our new houses sipping wine in the back yard.
