OP: Need a new Foundation

Ok ladies- let's hear your foundation raves. I'm looking for a new foundation. I was using Covergirl Trublend whipped foundation, but I guess they discontinued it and I was only kind of Meh about it anyway. (I haven't tried the regular Trublend). I would like to find something that I can get in a CVS or an Ulta. (Don't want to have to go to the mall makeup counter everytime I need it). Also I would love to find something that doesn't have all of the parabens ....like say the Revlon Color Stay I'm considering, based on reviews. So let's hear it. Do you love your foundation? What is it? What kind of skin type do you have. (I have sensitive skin, and need medium coverage, but nothing cakey....as my pores then look huge!)

  • It doesn't quite fit your CVS criteria, but ULTA carries my Bare Minerals foundation compact.  I used to use their loose powder, but now I prefer their pressed.  I get great coverage (even with my angry pregnant skin right now) and my skin is incredibly sensitive yet I have no problems with it at all.  Heck, even Clinique's sensitive makes me break out.  Most CoverGirl and drugstore brands put my into almost hives.  A little goes a VERY long way with the Bare Minerals and it doesn't get cakey if you do it right- they'll teach you.

  • Have you tried cover girl or Garnier BB cream.  I first used the cover girl one and really liked it but then I had a coupon for the Garnier and I really like that one too.  You don't need much and its like a lightweight tinted moisturizer.  I don't feel like its heavy on my face and my skin has been looking really good since I've been using it.  Appartently BB cream is supposed to have great effects on your skin I don't know if its true or not but for me I've been happy :)

  • I had some Rimmel foundation that I really liked, and I normally use Estee Launder.

It was Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr that my Mom gave to me because it was too light for her. I used it up because I didn't want to shell out for Estee, and it worked great for me (I alway use primer too, so that helps anything stick).

Not sure if Rimmel is at CVS, I know it's at Walgreens.

Yes- I do love the BB creams. Actually I'm using a CC cream now that I love (lumene). But I need a bit more coverage.

I've heard really good things about Estée Lauder too. That was top on my list... But haven't dragged my a** to the mall to try it. I did try a Rimmel Stay Matte foundation. But it was too cakey for me. Haven't tried the lasting finish. I'll take a look at that one.

  • Is your skin oily or dry? Is it dehydrated? Are you more yellow-toned or more pink-toned? What kind of finish (satin or matte) do you like? Do you need it to last 12 hours regularly or is it more a 4-6 hours kind of need?

Good questions! My skin is a pain in the butt. It's combination I would say... Dry in the winter and oily in the summer. Looking for a matte finish, and lasting all day. I put it on at 7 am and need it to last all day. I have pink undertones.

  • I have fair skin and my Tzone is my problem area...I recently went back to Maybelline's version of a mineral powder! I use Clinique's 3 step when washin and moisturizing ( I've used it since middle school). I have also used almay's and Maybelline's BB/CC creams. I like those in the summer with a cream blush and eyeshadow for a no fuss when ur at the beach or pool.

I have sensitive skin and like something that stays put but doesn't look too made up while giving good coverage. I was so excited to try Bare Minerals and hated it. Just my opinion, obviously plenty of people love it. After trying a bunch of other things I finally decided to suck it up and pay for the more expensive Jane Iredale mineral makeup and it is everything I wanted Bare Minerals to be (but wasn't). No, it is not a drugstore brand but it lasts a looong time. I use the Amazing Base in warm silk and it looks and feels like I am not wearing a bunch of makeup even though it gets everything covered up and evened out. It is a powder foundation but they have liquid formulas too, I just prefer powder since it feels lighter and is more easily build-able for coverage. Can't say enough how much I love it.

  • @milestrellas‌ I use my finger for liquid foundation and a sponge if it's compact. I use a brush for blending. The stay matte made my pores look larger. Even with a small amount.... I didn't love it. I don't use a primer although I've tried them in the past.

If you have probs with cakeyness, try mixing a plop of your foundation with some moiturizer - I do that with mine, and it gives a nice finish, plus it makes my foundation last longer. I just use drugstore face cream, like Ponds.

Normally I don't wanna deal w/department store counters either, but when my Estee runs out, I just take the bottle and run right into Von Maur or Younkers, and have a saleslady find my color and ring me up.

I'm in and out in less than 5 minutes which is quicker than the drugstore. But I'm sure that's due to the fact I get primo parking near the entrance to our dying Midwest mall, so no one is ever there =/.

  • I enjoy matte mousse by Maybelline. It's very light/airy and I get great coverage.

  • I apply Maybelline BB cream, then Bare Minerals foundation with a precision face brush. You can find both at Ulta.

  • I use and adore Bare Minerals loose powder foundation. I have a hard time finding makeup that matches my skin tone because I look like I've been dead for 3 months, but their "fairly light" shade is perfect. It's comfy and doesn't look cakey, but gives enough coverage.

  • Currently, I love l'oreal true match. And benefits porefessional when I'm worried about my pores showing.

  • I love Tarte Amazonian clay 12 hour foundation. A little pricey at $36, but worth every penny. Great coverage, blends quickly (that will be a big plus when doing makeup with a little one), and it lasts fabulously. I have super sensitive skin and have had no issues there.
