Just DH... I don't want anyone back in my labor room besides him and medical people. If family wants to come to the hospital they will just wait in the waiting room for however long.
with DD they came in right after I did skin to skin and nursed her for a while, which I probably won't do again. I remember like 20 people in there and all I wanted to do was sleep. Not sure how to handle that though -- tell everyone not to come to hospital, not tell them I'm in labor? I think a lot of feelings would be hurt (we have HUGE Italian families)...
With DS #1 it was the sperm donor (eye roll) my mom, and my best friend ( we were extremely close) With DS #2 it was DH, my mom, and my MIL. My grandma is really wanting to be in there this time, I never realized she hasn't been there to watch any of her grandchildren be born. My mom had 2 c-sections, 1 of her brothers didn't have any kids, and their other brother had 2 but Idk the reason she didn't get to be there. So I'm thinking this time will be my DH, mom, and my grandma. I've also considered turning face time on in the room (to where no one can see anything) but so the rest of our close family can hear what's going on in the room and hear the baby's first cry. My friend done this, it was amazing!

Just DH for me too ladies. I'm fairly sure our hospital has a two person limit but I really don't think I'd want anyone else there anyway. I know my mother, sister and best friend all want to be there, but that's not going to happen!
SO, my mom, and his mom. My mom would be crushed if she wasn't there and I'd rather SO's mom not be in the room, but if my mom is then it is only fair.
DH and I both agree that it should be my Mom and him. My Mom is going to mainly be there as back up for when DH needs a break. And of course, the seemingly 500 doctors, nurses, etc that show up when you deliver in a teaching hospital (I know I can request that they don't allow the students in but at this point, I don't mind).

In the delivery room, just my DH. In fact, we had no one else at the hospital when I was in labor. DH and I talked ahead of time and we agreed that we did not want any family at the hospital while I was in labor.
My Mom was staying with us and we left her at our house when we went to the hospital. (We had told her the plan ahead of time and she was on board). My Mom tends to panic easily and having her at the hospital would have been a distraction. I did call her every hour with updates though.
My ILs also understood that this was a private time for us (helped that DH has older siblings so they had been through the drill before). We also only had mostly family visit us in the hospital.
Definitely DH and my mom. We may have MIL too depending on my OBs policies. I haven't talked to her much about labor yet as I feel we have a long way to go for that.
We are in discussion about this. Our hospital give us 4 bands (1 band per person). Obvious band #1 goes to my wife. Band #2 will go to one of my best friends that is also a massage therapist. She will be there to help with labor. She might leave when I'm giving birth (don't know). With twins, c-section is highly likely so....
Bands 3 and 4 are up in the air. Not sure if we want to have the two moms in there. My mother is a nurse and worked as a delivery nurse, lamaze instructor, etc but not sure if I could handle her LOL

Just my H. Last time I had my mom in there as well but H said he felt very uncomfortable. Then my mom started butting into all sorts of things. We also live 14 hours away from either of our parents this time so I don't expect them to be able to make the trip before I actually give birth.
So, DH says he doesn't want to be in there ... scared of fainting, seeing me in pain, blood, etc. and all that wimpy stuff, but I told him he doesn't really have a choice We joke back and forth about it and I know he is partially serious. I tell him he will regret missing that moment and I think he agrees, but it still working through it plus I remind him that I will need him to be there just to talk to me and kiss me when it really hurts bad. I will probably have my mom in there as well to help both of us because he will probably need some directions and all the moral support he can get... and maybe a smelling salt or two!! LOL

My husband was really anxious about the blood and fainting, too, so we let the staff know ahead of time. They brought him a chair and faced him towards me, so he would have to turn around to see anything that would make him faint. He was a champ! He even took a peak at DS crowning, which totally surprised me.
@MRSclarke08: My DH gets woozie at the mention of a blood draw. That is why I am asking my mom to be there for me and his mom to be there for him, lol!

I think once the two of you go through birthing class, he might be more ready to be in there. To DH, the class was an eye opener on how active his role would be during the labor/birthing process and I think it made him feel important in a way and ready to take on that role.

One thing that my SIL did when she had her daughter, was text us all a photo of the baby with all the details and then simply said that they were tired and requested a few hours before people coming over or calling. Everyone just went to see her later in the day and she was able to rest.

My SIL had my brother (her H), my mom, and her mom there. Then her aunt showed up too because her mom needed moral support. It was pretty hilarious. Her mom could not watch the birth and was having a panic attack in the middle of it all. I'm pretty sure it will only be my brother and my mom in the room next time.

I thought I would want my DH and mom in the room last time but my mom drove me insane during labor so I just had my DH in there at the end. My sister was an awesome distraction during contractions though.
With my first, my mom and sister were there because SO was halfway across the country and couldnt get back in time.
The second time just my mom because my sister was with mh DS, plus I had my doc, the resident my nurse and 5 student nurses. So he came into a crowd LOL
This time probably just my SO because my mom will have my DS's and my sister lives over an hour away from us now. I wouldnt mind my mom being there and if SO's mother were still alive I wouldn't mind having her there either.
Planning on just DH. Depending on whether I go VBAC or respeat CS, it might change to have someone else but I wouldn't know who at this point. His mom will be taking care of DS and my mom has too crazy of a work schedule to be able to be dependable.
For my first, SO, and Mom were in the delivery room with my grandma and aunt lurking outside the door. With my second, DH, mom, cousin (also my BFF), and 12 college nursing students.. Oy vey! I remember one girl crying, "I just want to be an oral surgeon!".. This time (the last), just DH and I.. Planning a quiet, focused water birth.
DH and medical people. Maybe DH mom. Then my mom would get jealous. So to avoid being in labor and having a stupid argument.Just H. He I great at calming me down and getting me through things.
Great question! I am still debating. My best friend is an RN, my sister is a doula, and my sister-in-law is an OB nursing student... so, as awesome as that all is- it makes us wonder if we want it a teaching moment or not. I'd like to have DH there for sure- and perhaps, my mum.
Last time it was my mother and mother in law. This time it will be both of our sisters. It really doesn't matter to me. I don't mind if people see me. But these are the people who requested.
Just DH. I'm a bit scared that I might behave like a crying/screaming lunatic, and I'd rather minimize the number of family members who have to witness that! also, I'm quite prudish so better not to have to stress about who see's my bits (oddly though I'm fine with complete strangers with medical training)

I think just my husband but maybe my good friend who is a photographer? I have seen some really amazing photos taken during and right after the birth. Is anyone else thinking about having a photog?
DH, and possible a doula. We will likely do the same as with DD - call family a while into labor so they can drive down at their leisure, then they can stay at the house with DD until baby's arrival. My family doesn't do the waiting room gig and I'm ok with that! I wouldn't mind our parents visiting sooner this time, it took forever to get me moved to a PP room last time, I would have been happy to see them sooner, even though it would have been more complicated logistically.

She said "well, most women don't want their husbands in there, because they are mad at them for making them go through this pain."
Thanks for just basically telling me every episode of childbirth on every sitcom ever, mom.
It's my husband's baby. He will be there. That's IT.
