Coffee...

Has anyone lost the love of coffee this pregnancy, only to have started loving it again??  I LOOOOVED coffee before I got pregnant, and now I can't stand it.  I miss it terribly though -- not the caffeine, but the yummy iced coffees, lots of creamers, whipped cream goodness.... mmmm.... anyway.... anyone started drinking it again after thinking it was gross?

Re: Coffee...

  • I had never been a coffee drinker, until the third trimester with DD2, then I just wanted it so bad. I would go but decaf mochas almost every day. After she was born, I still continued to drink coffee. Now it sounds disgusting and I'm wondering if I'll want it again later in pregnancy.

  • I was told by everyone I would lose my addiction/love:infatuation with caffeine once I was pregnant. I've cut way back for the baby - only a cup or cappuccino every few days.

    Mmmmm coffeeeeee
  • I loved coffee before I got pregnant. I would have 2-3 cups a day, not for the caffeine but I just loved the smell and warmth. After about 6 weeks of pregnancy I could not stand the smell of coffee! Still to this day when my H makes it I have to go into the other room. I have been able to start drinking iced coffee or instant cappuccinos again but not fresh brewed coffee.

  • Me!  I used to love coffee...but I haven't wanted it at all since I found out I was pregnant.  Since I love to get coffee with friends, I'm hoping this is just a short-lived thing.

  • Me. The smell was terrible- like want to vomit- but I still drank a small cup to keep the headache away. Now I just want to drink it all the time (I don't. I keep it to my 1 small cup in the morning).

  • For weeks I couldn't stand the smell of it. On vacation last week I ordered coffee a few times for breakfast and enjoyed about a half cup each time (it was much stronger there). I'm hoping that I am turning the corner because I love my coffee!

  • Yes!! I was a faithful coffee drinker pre-pregnancy, then totally grossed out by it during my entire first trimester, now I am loving iced coffee...for some reason, hot still isn't appealing to me. International Delight iced coffee is delicious and relatively low in caffeine (76 mg per 8 oz) so I'm having a small glass of that in the mornings now.

  • Me! I used to drink a ton of coffee every day. :) I cut it completely off after I found out I was pregnant but started drinking it again in the last few weeks. I drink 1/2 cap & 1/2 non-caffeinated. Sometimes a little more cappuccino on some days ;-)
  • I wish. I've stuck with 1 cup/day. Like, an actual cup...not the cup (or 17) that I want :)

  • YES and it's amazing! My coffee tasting like poison was the reason I tested (this was part of my tell the last two times also). I've been drinking half coffee/ half cocoa for about two weeks and had my first full up coffee and it was glorious! There's hope!

  • It depends on the day. Some days it is the best thing ever and some days, dirt seems more appetizing.
  • I used to drink it daily but quit when I was ovulating as it lost its appeal to me. A few weeks ago my parents came for a visit and made coffee and it was amazing. Now I again just get sick even thinking about it!

  • I've cut back, but I've needed it to get through my work day. I stay under 200mg, but I have coffee every day. I love making lattes - a little calcium as an added bonus!

This is totally me! Usually I love it, but it has made me puke a few times this pregnancy.

  • I love coffee.  For most of the first tri, I wasn't totally averse to it, but I definitely was not enjoying it like I usually do, almost like I lost the taste for it completely.  I am back to loving it again though.  Probably started enjoying it again the past two weeks.

  • The last cup I had was the day I peed on the stick. Normally I'm a coffee fanatic and get migraines if I don't have my one cup but that was 2.5 months ago and I'm still feeling good.
  • I went from like five cups a day to zero in the fist trimester, but it wasn't that hard because the smell of drip coffee was/is so gross to me right now. I'm sure that aversion will go away in time.

  • I love love love coffee and the ritual of it in the am. But...since being pregnant it doesn't sound good to me very often. I'm guessing it will come back. I hope!

  • It came back at 13 weeks for me. Coffee time!
  • I never lost my taste for it completely and have continued with my one cup a day.  Mmm...coffee.

  • I'm loving my coffee again, to the point where I get a little sad that I have to limit my intake. But for several weeks I could barely choke down one cup just to get enough caffeine in me to stay awake on the drive to work.

  • I also cannot drink coffee! I used to love it, but this whole pregnancy anytime I made myself a cup because I was exhausted I ended up throwing it away after one sip because my stomach started gurgling immediately! Now that my naucea has mostly subsided, I tried again to drink it and I still could not!! I hope I can enjoy some iced coffee this summer!
