weird little twingy cramp on left side (confirmed NOT ectopic) - what is it?

Hi there - just another symptom post, first time momma wondering what the heck is going on. I had my dating scan at 6 weeks 6 days (we saw the heartbeat, it was 144, Dr. said the yolk sac was a good size, all looked good). Havent had a scan or appointment since, and I'm 8 weeks 5 days today.  The past 48 hrs, I've been having this weird one sided buzz-like feeling in my left lower pelvis.. I guess kind of where ovary would be.  It's definitely not an ectopic as mentioned above. Is it cause for concern? Also yesterday I had this spastic lower back pain that I haven't had so far.  Naturally I ran to Dr. Google who told me 10000 things were wrong and maybe 1 or 2 sites said "normal"... I think I should swear off Google for now, but that's another issue.  Anyone have experience with either lower back pain or this odd twingy feeling around 8-9 weeks?

Thanks in advance, as always!

  • I'm 8 weeks today and have the same things happening for the first time yesterday. I had my 8 week ultrasound last night and everything was fine so I'm sure you don't have anything to worry about either!

Thanks @amandarae529 ! :) I am hoping on my 4/15 appt they will do another scan. I just want to see my baby again! But I don't know if they will since everything was good at the first. We shall see... thank you :) And thank you @afwifelife , my OB's nurse recommended that as well and I've been guzzling.

  • Cramps are normal all through pregnancy. Are you experiencing any bleeding? You're probably fine.

  • I had something similar and was told by my Dr that it was because my left ovary was so large from a large corpus luteum that was causing the discomfort.

  • There is a ton of stretching and moving around going on in your body right now.  Unless it is severe sharp cramping, or it's administered with bleeding, then you really have nothing to worry about.

I'm 12 weeks today and have been gasping at twinges and pains since week 6.  Poor DH still has a mini heart attack every time it happens because he thinks something is wrong.  I just shake my head and say "Oh it's just pregnancy pains, or gas.  I can't tell which"

  • @glittermuffin914 thank you :) No bleeding!

@Msu_girl1202 that definitely makes sense... I just had my u/s today (it was bothering me and making me anxious so they squeezed me in before work this morning) and everything looked great

@allgood921 - thank you, you're right, my doc confirmed all of this today... haha I know what you mean about gas and pains and not knowing which is which!!

Update to everyone, I was so anxious I called OB and got in earlier... they saw me today and my baby looks good :) I'm 8 weeks and 6 days today, and baby measured 9 weeks 1 day. HR was a little high I think at 180, but Dr was not concerned, he said he'd be concerned if it was slow though.  Everything looked good though, and he basically said the same thing that everyone on here has said (thanks ladies), that it's stretching, pulling, and whatnot.  But they didn't write off my concerns, which was so nice and a refreshing change from my old OB I just switched from!!

    Thanks again ladies :)

  • Ooh--I get those same sorts of cramps, and I agree they can feel kind of scary, since they feel so specific and non-uterine. Nice to get a little reassurance that lots of ladies have them!
