I painted the room a while back a soft minty green. I plan on buying just plain sheets until the baby is born and then will go out and buy purple or blue sets (I like purple better than pink). I'm not so much into animals or ladybugs as I am into shapes and colors.
The room was already painted Pecan (a brownish orange) from when it was our guestroom, so we're going to leave the color at that. We decided against getting a bedding set since you can't use half of the stuff in it (quilt, bumber). We're trying to do everything organic and most of the organic sheets and blankets are all off-white or beige colors... very neutral.
Sock Monkeys! The colors are tan, chocolate and red. Right now the walls are cream, floors are a dark hardwood and we're putting down a red rug, and the furniture is white and a light birch. I'm also making my own vinyl decal of a huge tree that covers one corner of the room and branches that will extend over the crib. (Wish me luck!)
The few sock monkey themes I've seen are heavily masculine, but I'm making my own bedding & drapes, so I'm trying my best to pick fabrics that will work either way. Like this one:
I don't want to inflict PINK! on my daughter from day one, so I really want to do something neutral for the nursery. I've been thinking about stars/moons/planets. I'd love for DH to paint an accurate night sky on the ceiling with some constellations, but I don't know if either of us has the ambition for a project like that.
Taupe walls, white beadboard, and more than likely cherry furniture. I'm having a bed skirt and cornice made with fabric that is taupe, white and horizon blue toile, and then gingham and striped fabric.

My friend just did a very cool, modern, neutral nursery. They did green walls with white and chocolate furniture; bedding was cream and brown/green in contemporary geometric prints. It is super cute!

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."

we aren't doing a theme. The walls were already a mint green and we have original hardwood floors throughout our house. We are not getting a bedding set, just a few cute sheets with green and brown in them.

No real theme, just pastels and vintage/antiques. I don't care much for very modern nurserys but I don't like overly cutesy either.
Walls are an off white (maybe a "stone" color? more hints of gray than brownn), bright white trim, hardwood floors. Plan on getting an off-white shag rug.
All dark wood furniture, mostly antiques (except the crib obviously)
Bedding is a bunny toile in pastels/off white with a tan seersucker trim.
Wall decor will be vintage nursery rhyme pages framed, a few antique rattles that I've framed in shadowboxes, some photographs, an antique child's plate w/ nursery rhymes on it.
Yellow, Copper, and brown with teddy bears. I figure that's pretty neutral, and I love the colors too. Our bedding is Glenna Jean (is that right), and it's just a pattern with squiggly stripes and poka-dots.
