Thoughts on Candice?

My husband likes this name for a girl (we are team green). I don't love it, and HATE Candy for a nickname.

Sounds very stripper-ish. I dislike it anyway. Veto it.

  • Too outdated for me.  Not to bring up the thread from yesterday but I think Cadence is a nice name (spelled with a C).

  • I think it's an OK name, but it's fairly dated sounding IMO.

  • I feel like you can't win with Candice. The full name sounds outdated, stiff, and uptight. The natural nn, Candy, sounds trashy and stripperesque.
    Maybe another C name?
  • Don't like it at all. Dated and just yuck.

  • I have really good associations with this name. My bff's mom is named Candice, goes by Candy. She now goes by CandyGram as a grandma which is freaking adorable to me. I have a good friend named Candace. She's avoided being called Candy her whole life. But I agree with PP...it's dated, and doesn't have the appeal as other older names. If it were a family name I would suggest it as a mn.

  • I don't mind Candice/Candace, but I hate the nickname Candy so much that I would never, ever consider using it. I knew a Candace when I was in junior high school whose nickname was Dacey. I don't love it either, but I think it's much better than, and could be a way to avoid, the nickname Candy.

  • I work with a Candace and she's great! She's also almost 60.
I can't say I hate it, but I also don't like it. I don't know why, the woman I work with is wonderful, I just, eh. I don't know. Definitely not my taste.
