I think We're doing a Harley/biker theme. No pics yet, haven't started my Pinterest board but I do know we're going to have a little area that's a "tattoo parlor" with press on tattoos for the kids.
Too cute!

That is too cute!!
We're doing Pin The Bowtie on Nicholas I'm going to get a big picture of him blown up and make sticker bowties for the kids to "pin on".
Just finalized the location and date this weekend We are probably going with a pirate theme since LO lights up every time Jake and the Never land Pirates come on TV (and husband loves all things pirate).
I even found a fun jump to rent that is a pirate ship, it will mostly be for the older kids there (and the adults once the kids are done) but it is too cute to pass up. I also need something to entertain the older kids who are "too cool" to play some of the kiddy games I found.
Now back to Pinterest and Etsy to continue getting ideas!
I love me some Jake! I just made this cake for my friends sons 2nd birthday last month:
I've got an entire Pinterest board going for his awesome dinosaur party. It'll be in our yard, with a pinata and a "fossil dig." I haven't finalized the cake design, since I can't decide on stacked rounds or a round plus cupcakes, but I've got a general idea of colors/theme. I'm also thinking catered BBQ for food, that would save me so much work. My big problem is there's a cancer fundraiser I want to do that falls on his first birthday, so I need to figure out how I'm going to execute all my ideas while being away for a big chunk of the morning.
Not sure on theme but I know I am going to get a bunch of balloons and this year take a picture of LO with one and next year with two and so on until he is 18.
"You are my sunshine" theme. It will be at our house, possibly outside if it isn't too hot. However, texas in august usually equals crazy heat. So, I'll probably plan it to be inside.
If I can find a good indoor venue, Mustache Bash here as well. If not, it'll be outside and a camping theme

"If you're still my small babe or you're all the way grown, my promise to you is you're never alone. You are my angel, my darling, my star...and my love will find you, wherever you are."
Guess i am a bad mom, i have not even put one thought into it. I have no family here in Florida, and we are still not sure if LO first b-day will be in Fl or NJ.
I have a secret Pinterest board started also! I am thinking a woodland creatures theme at our house in the backyard. The color scheme will be orange, brown and green with the cute little animals.
Meh, we aren't doing anything big or probably even themed. I don't see the point besides for show.
To each their own. 1st birthdays are always done big amongst my family and friends. Plus I'm a crazy party planning freak- I've thrown birthday parties for my dogs (at the dog park, duh!) yeah I'm THAT person!

I totally understand and respect this opinion.. Lots of my friends who throw big parties get really defensive when other parents don't understand why they do it. I'm so not that person.
I ADORE hosting parties/gatherings and I absolutely love paper products and letting my creative side go wild. It's my "thing" if you will. Of course my baby won't remember his first birthday party.. But I will remember it. And so will my husband and family who are there to celebrate him. Executing my ideas and having my family around us in celebration is something I really enjoy. My first baby's 1st Birthday is a memory I've dreamed of making for years! Now, I have a really close friend who gets REALLY overwhelmed at the prospect of hosting.. well.. anything really. She won't be throwing any parties anytime soon. And that's totally ok. If it was something that would stress me way out or if I felt like hosting a party was beyond our means at the time, then it would be a no-go for sure.
I also think that it's ok a have a party one year and no party the next.. Sometimes ordering takeout and a cupcake will suffice just fine. Basically.. to each their own!
Wow.. you guys are making me feel like I'm way behind! haha. We've had a couple of parties for DS1 but man, they are a lot of work. And his birthday always falls the week before Thanksgiving which makes it double work. With this one and a summer birthday, it could be fun. We'll have to see. I haven't picked a theme yet. With DS1 we did Elmo cause he adored Elmo from day 1. I haven't seen any preferences from this one yet, besides an affinity for blueberries. :-)
When I was a kid I didn't get birthday parties... Just got sung happy birthday and got 1 or 2 gifts. I feel like I might go all out because of that. I'm sure some people will judge me - say that I'm just doing it to show off, she won't even remember it, etc. but I honestly feel like I would have an absolute blast planning the parties that I never had.
I haven't quite decided on a theme, there are just waaaay too many to choose from. But we will be hosting it at our house. Now thanks to you ladies I'll be on Pinterest for the rest of the day .
Are most of you just inviting family? Or friends too? (Not to thread jack!)

We have a blueberry patch here that would be perfect for a blueberry themed party!!

It's a big mix. A lot of my friends had babies around the time I had N so we'll have about 10 "littles" plus their parents (so about 30 friends, including kids). My family is huge so I'm struggling to keep things in check. My list was in the 70s last time I checked :-??
We're keeping it small and simple...just family and godparents. We've been to so many first birthday parties and always wonder why LOL I know that sounds bad...we'll make it plenty nice for LO to never remember. LOL
I've got a secret board on pinterest already. We are going to do a pool party at my IL's with the taco man. Its going to be an " Under the sea/ Mermaid" theme.
I'll probably invite local family, godparents, and our closest friends. I haven't decided yet if I'll invite the kids from her dc. It would only be 3 kids.
Well as if my type A personality wasn't already feeling the anxiety, after reading this thread, i might have a full blown attack lol... Omg it's only 4 months away isn't it?!?
I think we'll do a lady bug & bumble bee theme. It's actually the same theme from my baby shower but I think it's a cute idea to have her 1st birthday be the same so she can be here to see it this time. Plus we're already set with most of the decorations.

We will likely do a monkey theme for first birthday and thinking at our local park that's on the river. Has a playground and water park so BBQ is an easy go to.
We do 1st birthdays at our house. BBQ most likely. Rent some bouncy houses for the older kids, put them in the front yard. I am thinking "candyland" as the theme.
I have a secret Pinterest board with ideas. I think we ate going with a hungry caterpillar theme since DH and I are both teachers and LO loves books. Also I have a few other themes like Lego and superhero that I would like to save until LO is older (and chooses to have one).
I have done nothing yet. Here are my inspiration pics.
We are doing it at his godmothers condo complex. ..and minions theme! I think, as I am going to canada I want to get all the decorations there (options here suck ass) so if I find something I like more I may change my mind!!

We did a big Hungry Caterpillar theme 1st birthday for the twins I nanny for last year. It was so much fun! We mailed invites, but we hand delivered these mason jar invitations to neighbors/immediate family..

I love that!!! During Christmas time Hobby lobby had some awesome candy themed decorations.
Oh hell yea. I started a Pinterest board months ago. Right now I'm leaning toward a watermelon theme. I'm on the iPad and have no idea how to post pictures.
DD1's party is next Saturday; I'll start seriously working on DD2's after that. And of course AW pics from Dd1's party!
Were doing a small curious george themed first birthday for family and maybe a couple close friends. Im going to make cupcakes that look like moneys ala pinterest. And were going to pick up a curious george book for everyone to sign and write birthday wishes in.
I got the idea to do curious george because he has a stuffed animal curious george that we take his picture with every much.
Oh amd my sister has her own buisness where she makes childrens clothes so she is going to make bentley a curious george first birthday shirt
Re: Too early? I think not!
We're doing a Bowtie Bash! LO is famous 'round these parts for rocking a bowtie (just like his daddy) so I figured it would be perfect.
I'm going to make clip on bowties for all the Gents and clip on hairbows for all the Ladies.
We've secured the clubhouse and I'm working on getting quotes for the balloon centerpieces I want. I've got a lot of crafting in my future!
Color Scheme:
Centerpieces:
Invitations will be similar to this:
But NO MUSTACHES!!
