  • I just made myself so sad. I brought a big bag of chex mix to snack on throughout the day...eat a little now, some after lunch, and some after school. Good plan, but I just ate the entire bag! It's the new kind with popcorn in it. It's delicious and I couldn't stop eating it :\">

I'm having a judgement lapse right now. Is this smart or stupid (baby bottle koozie)?

    image

I don't even remember my hand getting that cold while feeding DS from bottle (I would warm them up in the beginning for him but eventually stopped that).

I kind of think some of them are cute though.........

Am I crazy on this one?

I wouldn't buy it since my kid was roomtemperature4lyfe, but hypothetically speaking, if you're leaving the home, you could warm a bottle, put this thing on, and it would delay the temperature reduction until feeding time.

Eff that noise, but some babies are picky I guess.

Are you using glass or plastic? If you use glass it could help from breaking if the bottle is dropped.

  • I have my first of four childbirth preparation classes tonight. What do they go over? DH isn't planning to go. Is it weird to go by myself?
Ours covered some basic anatomy, a tour of L&D and the recovery rooms, comfort measures (breathing, positions, etc.), when to go to L&D (ie, how to decide if you're really in labor and it's time to go), and what to expect in the case of the unexpected (needing a C, epidurals, etc.).  We had a class of 25 couples and all the guys were there.  The whole point of the comfort measures was to help the dad figure out what to do to help mom.  It seems a bit silly to go alone just to have to relay that information.  I'd try to get him to go.

  • Am I the only one still drinking caffeine? I see a lot I people making decaf coffee comments (which still has caffeine btw). I don't go crazy but I have a couple cups a week or a coke occasionally.

    Eta: spelling :/

I get all my drinks 1/2 caffeinated, but I work at starbucks so I'm almost always drinking something. I'm sure I end up on the limit or even over it almost daily. There are worse things I could be doing.

  • Also, I have no idea how much caffeine I drink a day. I try and get caffeine free Coke and I buy decaf coffee, but I totally don't watch it or limit myself. I also drink sweet tea every now and then. BAD MAMA.

Now I want a Dr. Pepper.

We are going to do a mixture of both this time. The glass ones have the sleeves (for dr brown's) that I was going to buy, but the ones I was looking at on etsy are cute. And they can be monogrammeddddd (so that I'm certain not to be able to resell them later...)

I just figured out why my post count seemed to go down so much with the "new" format (no platinum, gold, silver, newb) - they split out my comments from The Nest. My sig is different over there, too. Sofa king weird, bump owners.

It's at the union league downtown. I think it's fun lol especially the outside of the building. Great for pictures.

The Union League is an awesome venue, it's sooo pretty.

I go to an event there every November and always feel so fancy.

@tundrabunny - I took them with DD and from what I remember the classes are more of an overview of their hospital policies, timing contractions, when to come in (5-1-1 rule), and they show videos of births - vaginal and c/section.  They also took us on a tour of the hospital maternity wing and told us about visiting hours.

  • We decided last night to go to the beach with our friends and their toddler (same age as Abigail) over Mother's Day weekend.  I was so excited and now I'm feeling guilty. MIL is going to be livid that we aren't there with her.  But last year, my mom shit all over me and bailed without calling me or anything and the whole day, I got to deal with my MIL asking me over and over - well, where is your mom?  What do you mean you don't know?  She doesn't want to be with you today? ::Gasp::  I don't want to go through that again so I want to do what *I* want to do for my Mother's Day.

  • @sxymamakat - thanks for the info! There are four classes that are 2.5 hours long a piece. Did you just have one class or more than that?
The class we took is offered in that format or as a one day, all day intensive, which is what we had to do schedule wise.  But the two options are supposedly identical.

Enjoy your trip to the beach and don't feel guilty. Seriously.
Not gonna lie, I'm still a little swole that my ILs didn't wish me a happy Mother's Day for my very first one last year. DH called his mom and we all wished MIL one, but nope, none for me! It might be very little off me, but I think the bigger issue has to do with our birthdays.
MIL's birthday is the day after mine and she often doesn't wish me a happy birthday because she can just do it when I call her on her birthday. Seems pretty stupid, but still irritates me.

  • Another co-worker update. She's checking my food for preservatives now.

At what point is it considered justifiable slappage?

Um.. at least 2 steps before where you are now. How you haven't gone off on her yet is a miracle.

I didn't have anything good as a come back though. All I could muster was a "seems that way." Which makes no sense.
