which sippy cup

So I Am getting some things together for Anya's basket and I want to get a sippy cup....are most of you going right to a straw cup or doing the sippy first? Which ones are you going with..there are so many out there!

Were not thinking about sippy cups yet, but in my experience, babies don't tend to do so well with straw sippies, especially if they're used to a bottle where they have to tip it back to drink it. They want to tip it back and usually make a mess.

We tried silicone spouts at the very beginning but DS1 did not like them. We used the munchkin straw cups with DS1 but it took him awhile to get the hang of them, I also used and still use the Take N Toss cups. I am going to try the OXO straw tot and the Thinkbaby Thinkster with DS2 when he is ready to start cups.

Munchkin sippy cups rock and the nuby sippies are good too, our 2yo still uses them all the time, I agree with pp about the straw cups...big mess!

We use the munchkin spout. The nuby always leaks for us after it takes a couple dives off the high chair. DS1 is 17months and can't do a straw yet. But I did get him a cute rabbit straw sippy for his Easter basket.

We did Avent silicone sippys first. I don't think he did the straw sippys until 16-17 months or so. We use the Munchkin flip top straw sippys.

D's 1 started straw cups at around 10mo.before that, we used handled nuby, like this one. He started sippy with a little water at around 4mo.

We have always used the take and toss straw cups! Never used a sippy, and he had no trouble adjusting! Straws are also better for their dental development!
