Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How often do you . . . wash toys, change crib sheet?

I wipe down DD's toys with an antibacterial wipe once a week or so.  It probably should be more often.  (I don't let her touch them again until everything has fully dried.)

I change her crib sheet once a week unless there has been an accident of some kind -- spit up, leaky diaper.

How about you?

  • We're supposed to wash toys?

Honestly we don't really, unless it gets actually dirty.  Houses that have a higher rate of cleaning/anti bacterial product use have a MUCH higher statistical chance of having children with asthma and allergies.  You will be doing a much better job of being a parent and raising healthy kids if you DON'T clean all of those items so much, unless you already have allergies established.

As for changing the sheets...once or twice a week maybe. He's really only in there for naps and maybe 2 hours a night on some nights.

  • I wipe off his toys with wet/soapy dish cloth once a week or so.  The sheets get changed once a week unless there's an accident.
  • Wash toys- I don't wash them unless he's been sick. Then I clean them daily until his illness is gone.

Crib sheets- Change them when dirty or when needed.

  • I wipe down toys once every couple of weeks or after he's been sick or some other kid has touched them. I throw the smaller ones in the dishwasher when I think about it. If a toy leaves our house (ie. goes to the grocery store, doctors office, etc) it is always washed as soon as it comes back in the door. I change sheets and mattress pad twice per week.

  • I wash all toys once a week. I put all plastic toys in a bin in the tub with soap; wash, rinse and dry. Stuffed animals go in a lingerie bag and get washed and dried once a week. I change the sheets twice a week. Mesh bumber, walker seat, jumper seat and play mat get washed once a month.

  • I only wash stuffed animals because we have dogs and they pickup dirt, plus sometimes my dogs pick them up as they think they can play with them, so I just throw them in the wash.

The crib sheets, I have never changed.  But then again shes never slept in her crib  :)

  • I clean them when I think they are on the verge of gross, like if the dog slobbers them up or K gets slimy cracker bits all over it.  It's not really a scheduled routine thing.  The sheet gets changed probably about once a week, or whenever there is an accident or the cat decides to nap in it and leaves  his hair everywhere.
  • We only wash the toys if he's been sick or if they're visibly dirty, like with food on them and stuff.  I change his crib sheets every two weeks or so...bad mommy...

Ditto.  I usually only wash her toys if they've gotten gross or they fell on the ground while we were out somewhere.  Sheets are every 1-2 weeks or sooner if accidents.  We just started having DD sleep in her crib a month or so ago, so I'm not really used to having to change the sheets!

  • I try to spray them down with Clorox Anywhere about once a week, more if he's sick.  We have 2 dogs so I'm more concerned with that then his germs on them.

I also try to change his crib sheet once a week, but sometimes it's more like every 2 weeks.  But he's in daycare, so it doesn't get too dirty in one week.

Ditto.  I have been washing them more as he's gotten a bad run in with thrush.

That's about the only time I clean toys - when I can actually see grub on them. But, if DD is sick, I do spray them down with lysol each evening.

Change the sheets about once a week.
