Re: FFFC

  • Even though bed rest for the foreseeable future is going to suck, I'm really glad I don't have to go back to work. I have a tough group of boys this year (including a co-workers son that is out of control!) and they were wearing me out. I do feel bad that some poor sub is now going to have to deal with them especially at "the end of the year"

  • I am really hoping that DD is born weighing less than 8lbs. DH and I were both small babies (under 7), but the real reason is because the outfit I have for her to come home in will likely only fit if she's under 8. I'll be so disappointed if she can't wear it.

FTR, I really am just praying for a healthy baby, at any size. You know, just in case anyone was getting ready with some matches....

I understand, I've been looking at getting a little outfit too but I have no idea whether or not to get newborn or 0-3 months size.  Both DH and I were over 8 lbs, I was almost 9 lbs.  My sibs were all over 9 lbs.  I know there is a good chance she'll be big. There is a cute sundress that I love and I just don't know what size I should get for her.

Even my 9 lb 3oz kid wore nb clothes for about a week maybe 2 before switching to 0-3.

  • I get butthurt when people like Kanye West, mostly because he's egotistical and his anti-support the troops comments and I refuse to support or buy his music, BUT I still support Chris Brown's music. Who, IMO, has done far worse than KW (Rihanna situation) and is just as egotistical as KW and spouts homophobic slurs and punched Santa at a Children's Hospital. Basically, I'm a huge hypocrite.
ahh this gives me my FFFC. I loathe Chris Brown. i think he's such a gigantic POS. and i recently purchased his ridiculously misogynistic song "Loyal" on itunes and have been jamming out to it.  i hate myself for liking it.

  • @CamrynnsMommy I still like Chris Brown's music too. Furthermore, I'm totally over the Robertson (Duck Dynasty) family but still love Paula Deen like crazy. I also still eat at Chick Fil A and use Firefox.

No apologies here. I think it's totally possible to enjoy the product but disagree with and/or disapprove of the manufacturer.

Washing my snoogle cover is such a pain in the ass because I can never get it back on without working up a sweat and I always do it the wrong way the first time. I will not wash it ever again and it will go directly into the trash when I don't need it anymore.
Yes! I bought a separate cover for it so that I wouldn't have to wash the one that it comes with since I've read that it never quite fits the same way again. It was such a pain in the ass to put that cover on that after I removed it to wash a month or two in, I procrastinated putting it back on until the original white cover got nasty and had to be washed. Then I had no choice.

Now I'm just going to live with however nasty this cover gets because I am not dealing with it again before baby comes. At least you can't really see the nasties since the cover isn't white!

  • At first, I didn't care if women planned their own baby shower. But now it's really annoying me. I have a few pregnant friends all due a few weeks after me. My Mom is planning my shower and she's keeping everything a secret. Every day, these girls are posting pics of their diaper cakes, favors, decor, you name it on facebook. I get bothered, cause I like surprises. I mean what's the fun of it, if you know every little detail?

Now that our showers are coming up (mine is tomorrow, yay!) they are constantly asking me about the details of everything as if to compare. I keep telling them that I'm not planning it, so I have no clue, yet they still ask on a damn daily basis! Maybe I'm the only one that likes to be surprised...

I don`t get it, why would they make themselves diaper cakes for their own showers? That seems like a huge waste of time, since taking a diaper cake apart, to get the diapers, is hella annoying. The time they would spend making it, and then taking it apart seems like an excessive amount of time for a table decoration at a baby shower.

Or did someone give them the diaper cake for the shower early? Still, it's kind of silly to not only know a gift you are getting in advanced, let alone post a picture of it on facebook before you've technically received it, since the shower hasn't happened yet.

  • We hired a woman to replace me when I'm gone on maternity leave and she's having trouble finding her daughter after school care and has been bringing her to work.  She did this on her second week of working here, I think it's super weird and her daughter has ADHD and is super disruptive.

I think it's weird to bring your kids to work.  It's just not the place for them.  Whoops maybe that's a UO more than a confession. ah well.

DS is obsessed with the "selfie song" and jams out to "talk dirty to me". Then, I had Doc McStuffins on the other day and he kept saying "mom, new show!"...he wanted to watch ridiculousness.

    Mom fail?

Consider me a failure too, my girls love "talk dirty to me" and Lil' Jon's new song (never watch that video with kids present!).

The girls also love Ridiculousness and Jerks w/ cameras.

It's so not even worth it. I tried to wash the damn thing in the 2nd trimester. By the time I finally got the case back on the pillow, I felt like I'd wrestled a bear and lost the fight.

    Fire is definitely easier.
  • @kitchencolors we do, but it's not as popular as a site called Kijiji

We've gotten many a deals (and sold lots of our bathroom demo junk) on Kijiji. It's the first place I go when we need something for around the house, and was a great source for our newborn CD stash!

@mary97 One of my co-workers brought her 1.5 year old daughter into work the day before Christmas break (I work at a University so it closes over the holidays) with PINK EYE. She couldn't go to daycare, and her mom was really busy at work that day so she let her walk around (and touch EVERYTHING) in our department for the day. This woman was one of 5 people with an actual private office, everyone else was in cubicles. No one was impressed, especially other parents in the office. I can't imagine getting pink eye and/or spreading it to your kids over the Christmas break, because someone else's kid came to the office. She could have at least kept her contained in her own private office for the day.

I'm totally judging a friend who chose to deliver at a teaching hospital in the city, and now is throwing a fit insisting no residents assist in her care, or be present at any point during delivery/postpartum.  I feel like if you choose a teaching hospital, you are instantly choosing to allow them to be present in your care.  If you don't want a teaching hospital don't deliver at one.
Maybe it's a bit different here, but in my city there are no hospitals that DON'T have residents. And the best place to deliver here is the Children's Hospital, which is on the university campus. That's where we are delivering, but I'm pretty okay with residents being involved with my delivery (they've been involved at most of my OB appointments).

My only request is that if I have tearing to repair that an OB and not a resident do that repair (I've heard horror stories of residents taking way too long to finish the repair so the local anesthesia wear offs, and also, that's my vag, I want to repaired as close to perfectly as possible).
