33 1/2 weeks pregnant - constant pain, some tightening, & more?

This is my first pregnancy and I am approaching my 34th week. The past day (and this morning) I have been experiencing almost constant pain in my stomach and pelvis. The pain is coming in waves and I can't seem to time it. My stomach does harden at times. The cramping pain seems worse today than yesterday. I had a dr. appt. the other day but he just checked heart beat. He did say that my baby's head is all the way down, he can't see her being more than 6 1/2 pounds, and if I do go into labor then he won't be stopping it. Some other symptoms I have noticed:

- More discharge (it is clear with some white in it.)
- My blood pressure was at 114 I'm usually between 80-90
- I have lost 3 pounds
- Felt a lot of pressure when on the toilet - almost like if I pushed, she would come out.

I did just get done taking antibiotics for a bacterial infection, also. I'm really starting to worry!

It sounds like you need to call your doctor and likely go to l&d.

  • This makes my head hurt... CALL YOUR DOCTOR!
  • Ditto all of the above. Really??
  • Please call your OB.
  • I'm not trying to be a WK here. BUT, I will say I am a FTM and I always hesitate to go to the doctor because I have no effing clue what normal pregnancy pains are and what I should be concerned about. That said, it seems like your list is comprised of some of the major "pregnancy red flags" which you can find by a simple google search.

I hope you're already at L&D, but if you're not: Go now and get checked out. GL.
  • I'm going to assume this isn't mud.  This sort of sounds like labor to me.  The waves you are describing sound like contractions.  Pain can make BP go up, too...although if your bottom number is 114, that is scary high. If your top number is 114, that is normal. I agree with above posters. Call your doctor.

  • Seriously!?! You have had pain and cramping for nearly 24 hours and instead of calling your doctor, you came here and asked a bunch of internet strangers!?! CALL YOUR DOCTOR OR GO TO L&D!!!
This. For real. I don't understand why so many people lately have warning signs of PTL and are worried, but would rather waste time putting symptoms on here and getting random internet opinions instead of just calling their OBs or getting checked out at the hospital.

Don't worry about looking stupid if it turns out to be nothing. It is their job to address to your concerns and check things out. Just call.

One thing, though, an increase in discharge doesn't usually mean much unless it's accompanied by a change in colour, odour, and/or thickness.

  • If this has been going on for over 24 hours as you say, you should have already put a call into your OB.

  • Well too bad there's a 0% chance we will ever hear back from her.

She has three discussions: This, this posted on the November 2012 board (?) and an "Am I Pregnant?" post on TTGP.

    No replies to anything. Ever.

Feel free to share what you'd consider to be an appropriate response to someone who never posts here but takes the time to do so for a post like the above, instead of calling their doctor. Especially given what we know has happened in the past (the situation Mamazon is referring to).

  • Wow guys. I wasn't saying you shouldn't have responded that way. I was just saying I'd be embarrassed too. Sorry to cause such an uproar of a reaction. Tough crowd.

At the risk of being called a white knight or having someone snarkily say, "...and who are you?", I took it the way you meant it. You seem to have to walk on eggshells around here.

well, that's what your OB is for.  To tell you if it's normal or not.
