Any recommendations for foot/ankle swelling and how to keep it down? I'm sleeping with my foot elevated above my heart but it's always swollen, even when I wake up. I do have compression socks as well.

Make sure you're drinking lots and lots of water. It may not make it go away all together, but it will help. Also, make sure your BP is doing all right. I had crazy swelling the last few weeks with Nola and I ended up on bed rest and induced at 38 weeks for high blood pressure.
arekeweg be sure to mention this to your MD -- you may even want to call them and let them know that it's not going down with elevation as it could be a sign of something more serious. Are you noticing swelling anywhere else? If so, DEFINATELY call in ASAP as it could be a sign of pre-e. I'm a FTM so the only advice I can offer to you other than keeping it elevated above your heart as much as possible is to try soaking your feet in cold water immediately followed by very warm water. Alternate between the two for a total of 15 minutes. For clarity sake - start with your foot/feet in water as cold as you can stand it for as long as you can stand it then immediately remove from cold water to water as warm/hot as you can stand it for as long as possible. Repeat this 2x. This is what I had to do when I broke my ankle to keep the swelling down. Maybe it will help with this too.
Boppy vs. My Brest Friend. Thoughts? I received both and I'm wondering if I should keep both or return one.
I'd probably return one. I don't have a personal take on either from experience, though the Boppy seems more multifunctional. I.e. if you find that you don't like it for BFing, you can still use it to prop the baby up, etc.
@flojo973 - I had both. I had a really really hard time breastfeeding the first week. DD wouldn't latch, I had no milk for the first 5 days, and we were having to supplement. My lactation consultant recommended I get My Brest Friend because it would help position DD better and it helped soooooo much that first month. Even after we got the hang of feeding and DD was older, MBF was still easier to use. Boppy slipped away and had to be repositioned a lot. It just wasn't comfortable. We ended up using it when DD was learning to sit.
That said, if you don't have issues with BF-ing, you might be fine with just the boppy. See what happens and return MBF if you don't need it?
Supplementing - My DD got nothing - NOTHING - from my boobs until my milk came in at 4-5 days. We had to supplement. We took what the hospital gave us and bought a bit more. By 1-week old, she was completely off formula and breastfed until she was 13 months. I am drinking mother's milk tea now in the hope that my boobs will get the message sooner.
Question for TTMs - Did your milk come in sooner with the second baby, or was it the same?
I never had the MBF, but I had friends who did, and they loved it. I never felt like I needed anything more than the Boppy, and I used it so much more than just for BFing. Great baby prop
Go to various formula websites and sign up for their programs - they'll send you free shit, including free formula and free formula checks. You'll have it on hand if you feel like you need it, and it doesn't cost you anything.
My milk never came in (it basically never amounted to more than a trickle), so we needed to supplement pretty early on.

I don't have any ideas how to keep it down, but I'm interested I suggestions as well! My feet and ankles are always swollen (better in the morning and worse after working all day). My bp looks really good and is actually on the low side. So I just elevate my feet in the evenings and drink tons of water! Ice water seems to help the best, I've also decreased my sodium intake and cut out all liquids except water.
@emotionlotion the taxi situation may differ depending on location. I have heard that in San Francisco they will not pick up a woman in labor (or sometimes injured people either) due they to liability. I have heard of people using Uber instead, but after a recent fatal accident involving Uber, they may become stricter, too. If you call up the major cab companies I'm sure they could tell you if they have any policies about that.
This is a long shot, but anyone have experience with taking a taxi to the hospital while in labor? DH is on call at the hospital typically 2 nights a week and during the day is sometimes in a surgery or with a patient and I don't known if I'll be able to get in touch quickly. (Man I love my OB but I sure wish I had thought to find one that delivered at a hospital he works at!). I may not have access to a car, I have some friends in the area that may be able to drive me (although most of them are pregnant too) and I don't want to call an ambulance especially if I'm not totally sure I'm in labor.
Would a taxi pick up a super pregnant, possibly in labor woman? I probably wouldn't tell them, but I imagine there could be telltale signs. This is literally the only thing that is stressing me out about labor, even after reading all this episiotomy and catheter talk!
Just curious if anyone has or has heard a 'taxiing to labor' story of any sort?
ETA: it's a 15-20 minute drive to the hospital from home or work.
My Doc said it happens a lot "although taxi drivers hate it" and laughed.
I have really bad RLP (both sides) right now. Will that be a problem in labor when I have to spread eagle? Because it hurts like the dickens when I do it now. Will RLP just disappear during labor or will there be so much going on I will not be concerned?

The position you imagining involves laying on your back with your legs up in the air, I am assuming? If so this is not a good position to deliver a baby in at all and yes it will probably continue to aggravate the RLP. Squatting, hands and knees and side lying are all better positions for birth and wont aggravate the RLP as much.
Thanks! It hurts walking up the stairs and trying to turn over during the night. I'm not sure of positions for labor (that's the next chapter in my book) but I just imagine being in pain since I have to open my legs

I've had pretty bad RLP with all of my pregnancies (with DS2 and this pregnancy, can't lift my left leg without some pain) but it wasn't an issue during labor/delivery. I actually hadn't thought about it until you brought it up, so I'm not sure if that was due to everything else going on or if it just subsided with labor. Of course I got an epi at different points with each so that helped the pain I'm sure.
I was literally thinking to myself as I was getting up from my chair "This RLP sucks" and "Oh crap! Will it be like this during labor?!?" LOL. I'm sure by the time labor hits other parts of my body will start hurting so the RLP may drown out ... but I wasn't sure so I thought I would ask.

@wareagle1220 Probably not but I ended up getting a $20 one at Target because it was way easier to use around town at the farmer's market and at the fair when DD was wanting to walk, but would tire out.

wss. I have one from a consignment shop that was like $11. It's been a lifesaver during this pregnancy bc it is much easier to lift. And DS loves it because it lets him sit up a lot more and see the sights (aka people who tell him how cute he is).
I received a bunch of 3 month old outfits at my shower. There's no gift receipts and I can't tell where they were bought to try to return/exchange them. Any advice? The barcode app I downloaded doesn't tell me where they're from.

what brand are they?
All different kinds but mostly carters. Think I can just return to Carters store?

As tedious as it would be, the next time you are at Target/Carter's/BRU/anywhere else that sells Carter's brand, you could ask them to check if it came from their store. They should be able to; they have done it for me before. Hope you solve the mystery!
Is it straight up Carters, or is it one of those Just For You or other specialty lines? Some of the Carters stuff can go back to any store, including a Carters store, but some lines are made "exclusively" for a particular chain.
Target = Just One You
KMart = Child of Mine (I think?) - maybe that's JC Penny?
In any case, if it doesn't say anything other than "Carter's" (like, no tag line), you should be fine to return it to a Carter's store. Every store has a different return policy, so going to a Carter's store might be best - I always hang on to receipts from Carter's and Osh Kosh, for example, as they have a great return policy (you can wait forever to return and they'll still take it back).
DH was reading on REDDIT and saw that babies can flip over and suffocate themselves in the middle of the night and now he wants to get one of those monitors that clips onto them (like a HR monitor) and will alarm if they stop breathing......................................................................
@Kinipela7 , I personally wouldn't go for a hr monitor on the kid. You can get angel care pads that go underneath the baby and they go off if they don't detect breathing for a certain amount of time, but I've heard there are false alarms fairly often. By the time a baby can physically roll themselves over, generally, they also have good enough head control to turn their heads to the side so they can breathe. As for pooping during delivery, no farting that I was aware of, just that the baby's head pushes everything out of its way and that is so close its hard to not.

That's a little bit much, right?
Depends on your comfort level. In the beginning, you will probably be up so much with the baby that they will be checked on pretty regularly. I know a few people who use the monitors; some love it, some hate it. I think a few are known to give false alarms but a few are good.
@katburdette, we lotion after every bath and then if we notice any dryness in between baths. Some people recommend lotioning every morning and night, but I felt like that was overkill, she just didn't seem to need it. That said, this past winter she got eczema and so we were lotioning alllll the time, and using special eczema stuff. It really depends on the baby and on their skin.
What kinds of lotions are
best for super sensitive skin? My SO and all his (5) brothers/ sisters were born with everything under the sun- baby acne, eczema, and sensitivity to almost everything- so I am trying to prepare myself but almost everything I see has artificial dyes and fragrances. Has anyone dealt with sensitive baby skin, and if so which products worked best for you?
I feel like this is a really dumb question, but since we have a travel system, the baby can go on walks right away, right? Since he will be in the infant car seat ?
@enpowers , we use Shea moisture products and they all work really well, they even have a line specifically for eczema. @elsa1688, yes, I took c for walks right away.

We use coconut oil. It was the only thing we could use on DD without breaking her out. Burtsbees works also (shampoo and their ointment)
I use coconut oil now on my belly and never get itchy and so far no stretch marks. I LOVE IT!!! and it smells awesome
I have a used breast pump that I'm planning on using. What parts will need to be purchased new? Also, should I be able to feel suction from it?
Any parts that touch you or the milk need to be replaced. In most models that can be used by more than one person, that means the flanges and tubes. If you have a medela, give your hospital's lactaction consultant a call, I got my new parts free from them because that's the brand they rent out, so they have the extra parts around anyway.

@elsa1688 - I feel like the answer to this one is yes.

Awesome. Thanks guys!
I can't remember where I read that anyway. An Amazon review maybe?
