High NT measurement and CVS test update

I went in for my NT test today. Things did not turn out well - we are quite upset. They took several measurements which ranged between 2.6 and 3.5mm. We were offered several options. Do nothing, Harmony test or CVS. We chose the CVS and did it immediately, we should get the results from the major chromosomal abnormalities on Monday. Anyways, anyone else currently in limbo and want to wait with me? Or anyone have a high NT measurement as well? Just looking for some support.

Update: I got the prelim results for chromosomes 21,18,13 & x/y chromosomes. Good news is that baby is normal for these. I will get the remaining test results in 7-10 days. And an addl test in 4 weeks. One thing to check off list. Fx for the rest to come back just as good and my ultrasounds to show the fluid to not increase and no heart defects. Oh yea and baby is a girl!!

I didn't have a high NT measurement, but I wanted to send you good vibes that it's a false alarm and nothing to worry about. According to what I've read, the nt measurement can sometimes not be a marker for abnormalities and definitely isn't always associated with any problems in the baby. I hope that is the case with you! Sending good thoughts your way!

FX that everything turns out ok. Please keep us updated. While I am not experiencing the same thing I am here (and I know others are too) if you need to vent or release stress. It is so hard to wait when you can't see what is going on in there.

I will be thinking about you. I have not had any of those tests because of the false positives. I will have a better look once the baby is more developed. I hope you get the results quickly, I can't imagine how hard it is to wait on such important stuff.

I had my IPS/NT last week so I was googling around about what the numbers mean, this site has this: Nine out of 10 babies with a measurement between 2.5mm and 3.5mm will be completely normal.

I'm not in limbo with that specifically but we have wait until the anatomy scan to find out if this a baby has a heart deformity like our last who had VSD. I hate not knowing. I also have to do another echo.

While it's not the same I wish you luck! I know it's nerve wracking

Hoping for the best for you. In my BMB for DD2, I saw a lot of people come back with a higher score and after further testing, everything was completely fine.

I completely understand where you are coming from. We got results from our first trimester screen on Monday. My PAPP-A levels are low, which resulted in an abnormal screen. We did CVS on Tuesday, and heard back that baby was negative for Downs and Edwards yesterday afternoon. I was a complete wreck during the waiting period. My fingers are crossed that everything was okay. Try to breathe and stay positive that the odds are in your favor!

I am not in the same boat but my OB told me that those measurements can be off and can lead to false positives. I will be thinking about you and hope that everything comes back normal on Monday. I can't imagine waiting that long.

Two of our close friends (two different couples, I mean) had false positive results at their NT scans. Both went on to have healthy babies.

Fingers crossed that the days go quickly, and for good results next week!

Hang in there!! I was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago. High nt result and low protein numbers made me high risk. We too opted for the cvs but got it expedited so the wait was 2 days instead of a week. Luckily results from cvs said the baby was fine and as a bonus we got to find the sex of the baby - we are having a boy!

it looks like these nt tests give a lot of false positives and I know waiting is the absolutely worse but just hang in there until you get the results. Hope everything turns out ok. Big hugs!!!

I have a friend who did the NT test back in the day and they told her that her baby had down syndrome. They didn't do any other tests back then and when her daughter was born she was perfectly fine. I also have a friend who was told at 7 months pregnant that her baby had all kinds of abnormalities and wouldn't survive past birth. He is now a healthy and happy 4 year old. Medical technology is great, but it isn't 100% accurate. I hope it is a false positive. Try to stay positive ( I know it's not easy).
