Water how to drink more?

I usually drink tons of water while I'm not pregnant.Im an army girl so I know how important it is , but know it tastes so disgusting it makes me nauseous and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.but I want to keep the baby and myself healthy , has anyone else experienced this. Do you have any tips? Does anything help ?

I cut up an orange into a pitcher of water and leave it overnight. I use the same orange for a day or two and then change it out. You can do the same with a lemon or really any fruit.

Another option that helped a lot of people I know (but i couldn't stick to it) was to create a schedule, you can even type it up all cute and print it and tape it to your fridge and check it off every day. For example:

    1 cup before breakfast
    1 cup with morning snack
1 cup before and after lunch
1 cup on your way home from work
1 cup before and after dinner
    1 cup in the evening
    1 cup before bed.

Where in this 1 cup=8oz or half a standard store bought water bottle.

Another option is buy the litre bottle and put mark on it (8am, 9am,10am etc)

Re: Water how to drink more?

  • Thanks I'm going to try it today ;-)
  • Thanks again just went to the grocery store I love it .next trip to the grocery store I will definitely try the lemon I have cranberry juice here I will try that as we'll!!
  • I had the same problem when first pregnant. Adding something flavored to the water definitely helped me. I was partial to lemon, lime, and cucumber, but try different things until you find what works for you.

Maybe there;s trace chlorine that's making you nauseous as your taste buds are more sensitive now? Try some really good Filtered water, perhaps?
  • I was informed not to take emergan-c or anything like it so check with your doc before going that route.

Crystal light/mio is a great solution. I don't put much in, just enough to slightly change the taste. Keeping water with you at all times is also helpful. It's easier to look over and see the glass and take a few gulps than to think about it, get up and go across the house/office etc. Keep a bottle in your purse when you are out.

You can also take a big pitcher an chop up some fruit or water based veggies, mint, lemon etc and let it steep for a bit. It's a more natural crystal light option.

Remember that while water is the best bet, other things out towards your liquids. Milk, tea, natural juice, gatoraide all count. As long as you don't feel thirsty and your urine is looking good, you are probably okay.
