What does everyone think is a good gate for top of stairs. I dislike the ones that have a bar on the bottom that you need to walk over. You might trip. I think non pressure mounted is prefered. Thanks

its great bc there is nothing to step over, and we remove it quickly and easily when not in use. Also, hardware mounted is recommended for top of stairs, so it doesn't accidentally come loose when Lo pushes on it - which DD does!
Specifically bought it because it did not have a piece on the bottom. We had one that did and i was constantly tripping over it. No complaints..we have it attached to the bannister on one side and the wall on the other
We also have the Evenflo "Top of Stair Plus" gate. I'm pregnant now with our first, but we used when family visited to keep niece safe upstairs and keep dogs downstairs, works great and nothing to trip over. It opens really wide and one handed too. It's all wood and metal, which I prefer over plastic.
I think they advise against pressure mounted gates at the top of stairs. There are gates for openings and different recommendations for stairs and I think top of stairs need to be attached to the wall to be considered safe. We have a retract-a-gate and love it because it disappears when baby is asleep.
