Re: Eating Schedule - 6 month old

  • DD is 6.5 months old.  We are doing BLW and usually do breakfast, lunch, and dinners on the weekend and the weekdays I am home.  The two days a week that she's in daycare I usually pack a snack for her to have whenever her caretaker eats lunch and she has BM bottles (6oz) on demand and when she's with me I BF on demand.  Food before one is just for fun so we have a pretty laid back attitude about it all...

  • My twins are almost 6 months old (just shy a week) and here is their schedule

    6:30 am 6-8 ounces
    10 am 6 ounces
    1 pm 6 ounces

    4 pm 4 ounces
    7 pm 6-8 ounces

  • My kid is 7 months. She eats once or twice a day if she seems interested. We do BLW so she sucks on/munches whatever. She doesn't like to swallow yet.
  • 6 am nurses

    9 am 4oz breastmilk

    12 pm 4oz breastmilk

    3 pm 4oz breastmilk

    430 pm puree or BLW

    6 pm nurses

She is usually asleep by 730pm and will wake around 10pm to nurse again before sttn.

Once we are more familiar with that she doesn't have reactions to, I may bring solids to daycare for her to have. For now this is our weekday schedule. On the weekends we introduce new foods and she will have two solids. They are in between breakfast and lunch and then one at dinner.

  • He's bottle fed formula on demand, but we usually do a puree or cereal at around 7pm at night (bedtime is 9pm). In a few weeks we're going to send some solids with him to daycare and have her offer some in the morning. He's recently started mooching while I'm eating breakfast in the morning so I think he's ready to move to twice a day.

  • 7:30- nurses

    9:30- nurses before morning nap

    11:30 nurses

12- about 2 TB avocado puree with BM

    3:00-nurses

    5:00-nurses

5:30- about 2-3 TB sweet potato puree with BM

7:00 nurses and down to bed

anywhere from 9:30 to 11:00-nurses one more time lol

  • Formula at 6am, then again at 10am, 2-3 tablespoons cereal and fruit/veg puree around 11:30am, more formula at 1:30 then again around 5pm. 2-3 tablespoons of cereal and meat/veg puree around 6;30-7pm, more formula between 9pm and bedtime which is anywhere from 9:30-11pm.

We do formula basically on demand but he averages 25-30oz per day. DS is 6.5 months and we will be adding another solids meal and move to more mushed as opposed to pureed foods at 7 months.
  • We were doing bottle at wake up, then about 3-4 hours apart bottle (6 oz each time).  Pureed veggies and fruit at dinner (6-7) and then bottle at bed.  But I realized my child is HUNGRY.

So we plan on doing bottle at wake up
hour or so later doing cereal and fruit
then bottles throughout the day (3-4 hours apart)
    Veggie and Fruit at dinner
    Bedtime bottle

We also upped her bottles to 8 oz.

She has her 6 month appt tomorrow so I am going to find out if the switch is good.  We may incorporate a lunch solid in soon too.

  • My son just turned 6.5 months. He loves to eat! He is nursed @ 6 am Breakfast @ 8 am - oatmeal & fruit Nursed @ 10 am before nap Lunch @ 12 - veggie Nursed @2 pm Dinner @ 4:30 pm - veggie and fruit Nursed @ 7:30 pm Occasionally he wakes for a night feeding but not every night. We use stage 2 baby foods.
  • No real schedule. We have breakfast (boob) then do a snack at Playgroup. Lunch when we get home. Then it's boob on demand until dinner (between 6-7pm). Then boob on demand the rest of the night.

    Wash, rinse, repeat.
