I'm really freaking out right now. I'm 7 weeks pregnant (just found out) unplanned but still very excited. I work at a hospital and 5 weeks ago I received my 2nd vaccination for MMR. Online I keep reading horror stories of miscarriages and birth defects, is there anyone out there who's been in this situation? I would like to hear it all, I really want to hope for the best and plan for the worst. Thank you all in advance, and God Bless.
Based on that timing, you're probably fine. And just because it's not recommended doesn't mean it's entirely unsafe. It can mean that studies are inconclusive, or that the risks are not worth the benefits if not absolutely necessary. So don't worry! Ask your OB at your next appointment. You can probably even call a nurse line if your office has one and ask if it'll make you feel better.
Look at the CDC website for this info. While there is a theoretical risk from the MMR vaccine in pregnancy there have NEVER been any adverse events reported.
