Ameda purely yours double pump

Hi ladies, my insurance is covering this pump and I was wondering if anyone has used it and likes it?..FTM is it pretty easy to use?

  • I have it, it's okay. I don't really have anything else to compare it to though. My power cord quit working on Monday and they sent me a new one overnight. Thankfully I was able to use the battery feature and still pump at work. Customer service is great, they have lactation specialists you can talk to also! One really calmed me down when I returned to work and wasn't pumping enough. You have to change the valves a lot, but that might be the case with all pumps.

  • Works great. :)
  • Mine did not work. When I pumped with it I got nothing, went out and bought a Medela which has worked great. My insurance sent the Ameda for free.

I hated this pump. It was free through my insurance. When I upgraded to a Medela PISA (also sometimes covered by insurance, worth checking) it was night and day better -- literally a lot more milk in less time.

The woman who owns a breastfeeding supply store in NYC told me that the new production lines for Ameda PY is very sub-par to what it used to be BECAUSE these are now free pumps through insurance.

Glad to see that others have had a fine time with the Ameda PY. But personally, I wouldn't have been able to cover LO's needs with this pump unless I pumped 7-8x a day. With the PISA I pump 2-3x and I'm covered.
  • I use mine 3 times a day through the week and I have liked it. It's nice only having a handful of parts to clean.
