To be honest, I love every one of those names...Grant is probably my favorite. We aren't telling our family our little girl's name until after she's born (but our friends already know our top 3)
Those names are great - all of them. This isn't your mom's decision, so she is going to have to get over it - especially if she can only suggest Jack.
My MIL heard some of our names (Linus, Felix, Oscar) and came back with a list of her own. The list read like the top 20 popular boy baby names for 1982 (Travis, Stephan, Allan)...the same year my husband was born. Before you give any credit to naysayers, you need to consider the source.
You aren't alone! I had this gut feeling my parents were going to dislike the name we picked for our little girl. We told them last night at dinner, and sure enough, they hate it. They kept saying things like, "oh well, you have tons of time left to change your mind to a better name." Oh, her name is going to be Annabeth Lynn.
Just wanted to say thank you all for your input! It's pretty much what I expected -- whether you like them or not, my names aren't completely off the wall weird or anything.

When I had my daughter everyone kept putting their two sense into what her name would be, she was going to be Lilliana until everyone else found out and didn't like it, so my boyfriend and I kept her name a secret until I was being wheeled into my c-section. :P
I'm bringing this to you awesome ladies because I know you will give me an honest opinion.
We recently found out I'm pregnant and I was throwing some names out to my mom if we have a boy. Her response: "Well, let's just hope you have girls." (Meaning: "Your names suck!").
I think my names are pretty normal, but I'lll let you be the judge. Is there anything wrong with these names? Am I way off base when it comes to boy names? Honest thoughts welcomed and appreciated.
Ari-Meh

I'm totally game for suggestions if anyone has any!
I don't think any of the names are out there so I don't know why she'd say that.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
My MIL recently said, "Ugh! I really don't like Clara and Cecelia for your twins. I prefer 'out there' names like Cheyenne." I told her she can get a dog and name it Cheyenne if she wants.
My 9 year old nephew didn't like Benjamin and Oliver if they're boys. He suggested Magic. Mmmmkay. Nope.
Basically, everyone has a suggestion and an opinion about your baby name choices, but luckily they don't get to decide. This is all you! Pick whatever names make you smile when you say them. Everyone else can go pound salt.
the only name that is nms is trent. the rest of your list is very normal! this is exactly why people keep their names a secret- so no mom snarl is gif'ing in your head when you say the name the next time.
tell mom she had her chance to name babies. she can just call him love muffin.
Re: Is my mom right? Do my boys names suck?
Stella - 7.7.11 | Ian - 8.6.14 | Isaac- 7.20.18

Great names, even if a few are NMS I have seen a lot of doozies out there!
Love Luke, Grant, Henry and Ethan in that order
Will throw out Evan for good measure. If my cuz didn't name her little boy Evan, it would be in the top 5 of my list.
