My LO is just turned a year, and we are transitioned 100% from bottles and are onto straw cups of milk. She has milk with meals, and occasionally as a mid-afternoon snack. Our current bedtime routine is books, bath, milk, brush teeth then bed. She is wiped by the end of all of this and sleeps well. When at her 12 month well-child check, our pediatrician suggested switching the routine to milk before the bath; she didn't seem like it was a big deal, but suggested it would be a good idea. The only problem with that is she has dinner around 5::30 and bath is just over 1 hour later. My question is when did you drop that night time bottle of milk? Or do you still do it right before bed? TIA
Re: Milk before bed?
Last week we stopped cold turkey bottles for bed. I give DS a snack (half banana and yougurt) around 7pm and at 730 we read a book, I offer water from a sippy cup then he goes to bed.
We still give a bottle first thing in the morning and during naps though. Its mostly the convieniance factor of it, plus easier at daycare. We will revisit the rest of the bottles in a few months.
