Before my question just a quick intro: I'm AlexaWinston and I have been a routine bumpie everyday since July on the March14 board. Just had my LO three days ago and am excited to freqent the parenting board now for all the great advice!
Please help! Maybe I am jumping the gun as DD is only 3 days old, but I have not gotten any sleep over the last 48 hours and the thought of gearing up for it again tonight has me just frazzled. LO sleeps ALL DAY LONG, but I know newborns have their own schedules so I let her. However, at night she is so fussy and won't go down in her PNP, RNP, my chest or anything. I am nursing on demand and usually offer the boob everytime she starts fussing. Last night I cluster feed constantly from 10-230 and she still would not go down after. I can sqeeze my nipple and see milk coming out and Dr. says her weight is good, so I believe she is getting feed. I think just like wants soothed. I don't mind nursing her all night if she wants/needs it, but I need to get her to sleep afterword. Am I jumping the gun and she will start sleeping longer stretches here soon? or any other advice would be much appriciated!
Re: Intro and question: When Did LO start sleeping 2-3 hour stretches?
At 20 weeks now, some nights are actually worse than the NB phase.
Have you tried side-lying nursing? That's the only way I could manage to get any sleep those first couple weeks.
It's normal to have night and day reversed initially. During the day open blinds, turn on lights, make normal household noises. In the evening turn everything down. This will help her get swapped around, but it will take time, and before she sleeps longer at night she'll probably just start waking every 2-3 around the clock for a bit.
As far as soothing a fussy baby, I highly recommend you read Happiest Baby on the Block. That book was a huge lifesaver for us.
