@Kimbus22 (snipped the quotes out)  Yeah, it was me semi-serious about taking back the bathroom.  The clarification helped, and you make a good point that I've only begun thinking about.

I don't know much about how potty training works, and figured there's not really anything to see aside from me sitting there.  Although now that I stop and think about it, Benjamin might find the idea of sitting there educational since he doesn't appear to recognize that the toilet is more or less the same shape as a chair.  I've gotten as far as looking up signs of readiness, and seeing that usually it starts at some point after age 2.

So really, secondary confession: I'm ostriching about potty training since Benjamin isn't showing any signs of readiness yet.

Since I don't have a child of the opposite sex, take this with a grain of salt. I don't think it's necessarily useful that Benjamin sees you using the bathroom, as much as it would be if Benjamin saw H using the bathroom. And more so when you start to see the readiness signs, I would think then would be the time to allow him to see H using the bathroom.

I will say it was helpful when potty training to allow the girls to see me using the bathroom. All the time? No. But when we started considering PTing? Yes.

I don't recommend this (bolded)... I hired someone I thought was good (great interview) and he's terrible!  Sure, I have ultimate job security now, but training him really sucks and I'm really worried he's gonna royally screw something up while I'm out.
Turns out i didn't have to interview them in the end. My CEO insisted on doing it, even though he doesn't really know what i do. I think the bad hiring is going to take care of itself. They've left it too late for me to really train someone anyway. They've known i was pregnant since October and they've only just started interviewing today. I go on mat leave in 2 weeks. They're a new level of disorganised.

My MIL is pretty cool. She has done so much with DD, and offering to help out this time, as well. She is planning a trip to go see her stepdad, and wanted to know if we wanted to send DD with her. Kind of a mini-babymoon with work in the middle. Plus, she asked if we wanted her to keep DD the week of EDD so we don't have to worry about who will take care of her while I'm on the way to the hospital. (Sucks living 2.5 hours away from everyone I love...)

Totally let DD watch me pee when she was smaller. Now she doesn't want to, and if we go in public, she makes me wait outside the restroom completely. If I let her. I'll stay outside of the stall, but in the room. If that makes sense. She only locked herself in there one time, but we got her unstuck pretty quickly.

On the topic of privacy in the bathroom.  Not sure if this counts as training for when my baby is a toddler following me into the bathroom but my 170 pound English mastiff likes to follow me into the bathroom and sit himself RIGHT in front of me when I'm sitting on the toilet.  I mean like his head right over my lap because our bathroom isn't that big and so he wedges himself between the opposite wall and me.  My Weimaraner does the same thing and paws at me to pet her. Trying to avoid a muzzle in my crotch or drool on my pants is a game we play.  Some how I fear there will be 3 pairs of eyes watching me when I have to pee or poop.

My pit isn't nearly that big, but every time I late on the couch he wedges himself between me and the couch. If I'm on my recliner, he will squeeze on there and then lean into my belly putting All his weight on me making it hard to breathe. Many times he has followed me in to the bathroom and watch me pee and has even jumped on my lap and he is not a jumper!

JKBMA2014 Did you pit do this before you were pregnant?  Cause I'm noticing lately that my dogs are a lot more clingy now that I'm late in my pregnancy than before I was pregnant.  They need to stick their heads in my lap and get pets and feel the need to lick me clean.

@motoLyn‌ Before I got pregnant he would always make it a habit to sleep between me and H. If we were on the couch he would squeeze in on top of us but mostly MH. In the beginning he didn't act like this. So idk if he is sensing my scent more now than earlier on or if it's because we moved in to a new place just a few months ago

I had a dream about having a c-section and something went wrong so I didn't get to see my baby for 4 hours after his birth. When I finally got to recovery, he had bonded with one of the nurses who had bottle fed him formula and he didn't want anything to do with me or breastfeeding.

My FFFC: I've been weepy and miss rage-y pants all day today because of my stupid dream.

That actually happened to me (other than bonding with the nurse) but it was 16 hours before I got to see him. Every one else got to see him but me. DH. My mom. Inlaws. The best man at our wedding. And he would not take the breast either after being formula fed.

@fatbarbie0226‌ For x,y,z reasons I had to do my 2hr glucose today and was hungry and anxious all night (phobic about veins & needles) so I slept really badly (H said I was even panting and groaning). I dreamt that I went in for theGD test and they kept me to give birth five weeks early. Woke up traumatized :(

Oh that is sad. Sorry! Hope you have a better expierence this time!

I had a c-section with Shorty but was able to see her shortly after I got stitched up. DH was amazing and wouldn't let anyone hold her until I got there, then kicked everyone (my whole family was there) out so I could do skin to skin and try breastfeeding. The only people who got to hold her before me were doctors and nurses and DH. I'm hoping that happens again. Guess my dreaming brain is a little stressed and nervous.

This was basically my real-life experience with DS's birth and NICU stay, except it was 4 days instead of 4 hours. Hello, Zoloft.

EDIT: Oops. He was in NICU for 4 days. It was 30 hrs before I was allowed to see him. But yeah...those nurses made it very clear he was THEIR baby, not mine. And he loooooved those little Similac bottles.

Wtf? I would have a cow if anyone said that my LO wasn't mine! I'm extremely protective of her now.. I can't imagine what I would do if someone even joked that she wasn't mine!

Please don't redo your nursery! Dr. Seuss and bright/rich colors go together. Plus it's your kid. I've had plenty of people tell me "Your kid is going to have nightmares!" because his room is Jack Skellington themed. It's what I want and I won't be happy with anything else. Besides, if it's something he's known from the beginning, I doubt it will start giving him nightmares. Babies are attracted to bold colors, so do what you want!

DH agreed that they are too much. I found some new inspiration though. I think we'll do yellow and use the samples to do bright dots, pictures, and quotes on the walls.
