Re: beauty secrets/pick me ups/GTKY

  • For moisturizer, I use Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer everyday. It was recommended to me by my dermatologist about 8 years ago and I like it.

I developed very sensitive skin many years ago after a bad allergic reaction to an acne medication. I used to get my lip and eyebrows professionally waxed but it was too awful with my sensitive skin. So, I started using Sally Hansen's wax strips and I find them to be just as effective! Plus, I only get a little redness it disappears much quicker.

  • Oh, I just remembered! Since being a SAHM, I don't wear nearly as much make up as I used to. Just concealer, mascara and this blush that looks perfect every time: https://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/products/2325/Makeup/Cheeks/Shimmer-Brick/index.tmpl?cm_sp=Gnav-_-Makeup-_-Cheeks-ShimmerBrick
  • @ohyealovely‌ and @CDK211‌ does coconut oil have a strong smell? I keep hearing from everyone how great it is, but I'm afraid of smells right now. MIL uses some coconut oil based product in her hair, and even not pregnant I just can't stand it. Just wondering if maybe it's the product or the oil itself that smells?

  • Re: coconut oil.  I love it but sometimes get annoyed about how hard it can be to get out of the container.  I saw a thing about whipping it in a kitchen aid on Pinterest, tried it, and it was awesome.
There are a bunch of different ways I didn't add anything to it but some people do: https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=whipped coconut oil&rs=ac&len=10

Also, coconut oil has cleared up my husbands eczema and I get red bumps on my arms and it helps with that too (when I remember to put it on).  I have never had any problems with my clothes (it soaks up pretty quickly) and I think the smell is nice and light.  AND- my cat loves to eat it.  Weird.

@joules235- do you make your own mascara?  Can you tell me more about that?  :)

Thanks to this thread, I now have an Amazon order that qualifies for free Super Saver Shipping ready to go! :-p My tips? Eyeshadow primer and Finishing powder so my makeup lasts longer! (I love the ELF brand of finishing powder on Amazon- cheap, does the job, and did I mention the free shipping?!)
  • First pregnancy made me super oily. This one has left me dry and flaky. Both times, I have turned to the Clinique counter at Macy's for guidance with their three-step system. It's helped each time.

  • For people that use witch hazel on their face....what do you use it for?

I have a bottle that I use to soothe rashes/bug bites that itch but I've never even thought of using it on my face.

I use this one as a toner.  It's supposed to be good for sensitive skin (which I don't have) too.

It's an astringent and is super helpful if you have psoriasis (like me) or eczema. I use it as a toner and find it even more useful if I have a sunburn.

eczema eh? would it be safe to try on DS? he has patches all over his arm, legs, and butt. I've tried all the OTC stuff, pretty much everything short of the ridiculously expensive prescription cream which I'm about ready to resort to.
