BF applied for voluntary separation from the Air Force and found out yesterday that he got approved!!! He gets out mid-September. We currently live in Montana and his daughter lives in Pennsylvania so he never gets to see her. Also my ex lives in Maryland so we pay a fortune to get DD to visit him twice a year.
We are soooo excited at the endless possibilities ahead of us. We have started job hunting like crazy. We are hoping to get somewhere in the MD/PA area so we can see his daughter all the time. I moved to Montana from Nebraska and still have a house there, along with a lot of employment connections so that is our plan B. My old HR has already asked for my resume.
I am just beside myself....and sooo happy for him that he doesnt have to put up with the stress this place has brought him over the last year. ....now I just have to break the news to my family....my mom is going to be heartbroken that we are planning to move so far away....ugggggg.
Just thought I'd let you know, @mtgrizgirl, Maryland is pretty awesome!!! I'm not that far from the PA border - just about an hour!
I quit my job yesterday. I thought it'd be difficult and I'd be nervous, but I wasn't, like at all really. I asked to keep working until I was 38 weeks unless I get put on bedrest or deliver earlier & she said great. Told me to please call her first if I ever want to join the workforce again & if I changed my mind I could still have my job. No bridges burned and an end in sight is a wonderful thing.

That will take so much stress of you! Plus then you don't have to deal with whiny women when you yourself aren't feeling well. Win-win
I went to happy hour with my coworkers last night and was wiped out when I got home. Immediately went to bed at 7pm. I drank two (very virgin) strawberry margaritas and they were delicious. I ignored the judgey looks the busybodies gave me.
I used to be cool dammit. Now an hour out at night has me exhausted.
I am really bummed I had to cancel my Baby Shower in my hometown (5 hour drive away). My blood pressure is becoming an issue and my DR is not allowing me to travel outside the city. Since I no longer have my Mom I really need the love and support of my Aunts back home during this pregnancy. I just feel it would have been easier to tackle labor without my Mom if I was able to have seen my family a few weeks before the big day

@pcourtade I failed by one point with DD1 too. The three hour is a misery. My blood lady at this OB told me that a ton of people fail by a point and it's because they all eat toast or something similar a few hours before. She said drink 3 glasses of water and have plain scrambled eggs if you need to eat and you'll pass (as long as you don't actually have GD) good luck with your three hour! I go for my 1 hour Tuesday.

Good luck to both of us then lol. I actually hadn't eaten anything since 9 the night before so I don't know what to think. I did drink water before and then read that you were supposed to have small sips of water?? I don't know how water could mess it up though.
@mtgrizgirl if you do end up back in Omaha, let me know. That's where I am. It would be fun to actually meet a fellow Bumpie. Plus my daughter is of babysitting age if you would ever need one ;-)
My daughter's birthday is tomorrow so it's a mom & Goose (her nickname) day since it's the last birthday we can officially do a mom & Goose day. Breakfast then manis & pedis in true girly fashion. I'm excited to get a good foot rub
I need decorating help! I have this bedding set from BRU and I can't figure out what other colors I could put with it? I found a really cute turquoise "D" for DD's name, but I don't know whether it would go or not. What colors (besides the ones in the bedding) do you think would coordinate?
Congrats on the houses @emilyh107 and @hjl050308! Getting there might be a pain, but home ownership is pretty awesome...
Virtual hugs for you @britleann26. That really, really sucks. Would any of your aunts be willing/able to make the trek to visit you before the big day?
I finally figured out that I can make my baby registry online, rather than going into the store itself. For some reason, I didn't think that was possible. Did anyone else find making a baby registry slightly uncomfortable? I didn't have any problems making a wedding registry, but this time around it seems gift grabby. Also, I kind of feel like babies don't need half the stuff BRU tells me are 'registry must-haves'.

I am torn about my job. I work for an amazing company that is rapidly growing and promotes primarily from within. Currently, I am in a position that I don't love and won't stay in it for more than the next year as I already feel that I have outgrown the position. So I have two paths within the company that I would like to be on. One is staying in the front office operations and dealing with members but in a leadership/management role. The other would be to go back office and work in auditing/compliance.
A position that will set me up for the back office position is opening up in the next month. It would be under my current manager but a totally different role. I talked to my manager and she said that I would be great in that position and it for sure would get me in the back office position within the next year. But, she doesn't want me to take it because she thinks I am management material and that taking that position would slow me down. She said that I am her "project" for the management position and has already talked to her bosses about it. She also said that if I saw myself back office she would 100% put me in the new position, but she wants me to be 100% sure that is where I want to go.
We will be expanding out of town in the next year to a town that would be ideal for H's advancement in his field. If I stay on the management track, I could potentially get the managers position and open that office. That would be ideal, but it's not a guarantee. I am so torn. I don't know what I want now!
@katekat8721 - a virgin daiquiri sounds good. I need one tonight!
@emilyh107- My ob gave me samples iron pills with a stool softener. So far, so good.
@sempre_staccato- I totally did my registry online. I went in the store because some things I wanted to see in person. However, starting online saved tons of time.
@Dharmatron - Have you thought about lavender? It would look nice with that set.
I'm at the hair salon. I needed some color in life. So happy to just chill.
Am I the only person not looking at bedding sets? I don't even get what you do with them. The only thing that you put on the crib is a mattress protector and sheet, right? And then maybe a very light, breathable blanket later? What do people do with this big comforters and stuff?
SS: My shower is tomorrow and I am SO. DAMN. EXCITED. My BIL, who I adore, and his GF are coming in the morning. So excited to see them! Excited to see friends! Excited about the baby stuff! Excited about having things marked of the task list! And having a really hard time concentrating at work because BABBEH!

i get the bedding sets because I like to hang the comforter on the wall as like a wall hanging until they are old enough to use it as a blanket like when they're in a toddler bed. plus because I suck at decorating and I like how all the matching stuff comes together and I don't have to go look for stuff to put in their room.
eta but yes you are right for a while all you really need is a mattress cover and a sheet

Nope. I'm not even looking either. But im also not setting up a nursery since we're rooming in for at least 6months. I know I'm crazypants.
Not crazy. Me neither. There's a crib set up in our guest room and we're storing baby stuff in that closet and dresser, plus there's a changing pad in there. We'll have a pack and play in our room for the first few months. But once she transitions to the crib in another room, we're still not really treating it like a nursery. No baby decorations, etc. The curtains I just made for the room are a vintage paisley pattern and I made them for light blocking. We're keeping the full-size guest bed in there. For a long time, that room will still function like a guest room. And once she begins sleeping in there, we know we may want to occasionally lay down in the same room.
Thanks for the color suggestions. I'll try to find some brown, green, or lavender.
I probably got overexcited shopping for baby stuff when I registered for the bedding set. I figured I'd use the comforter as a throw blanket on the glider until baby is a toddler. The set is a gift from my mom (first time grandma) who insists I need ALL THE STUFF!
I got a bedding set because I just really loved the pattern and colors in the bed skirt. I plan to use the comforter as a floor blanket when she's little. It also helped me make the plunge because I bought it from Amazon and I had a gift card, plus credit from my credit card, so it was actually cheaper than I could have just bought a few fitted sheets elsewhere.
Is anyone else taking Ferrous Sulfate(iron pills)? I have to take two a day and they are seriously making me sick everytime. I have a full tummy when taking them, but I'm either throwing them back up or get really bad stomach cramps. I just started them Wednesday and maybe my body needs time to adjust? My doctors office is closed today, but I left a message with the doctor on call. I am thinking maybe he can either a. Give me anti-nausea meds(double the constipation though) or b. just prescribe me something else.
I've always taken mine with orange juice on a not empty stomach and never had problems, plus the OJ helps with absorption too! HTH

@emilyh107 I'm on ferrous sulfate too and I used to get bad gas pains and nausea when I took them. I've started taking them right before bed which really helps. It also depends on when I last ate, if I have take them in the am I eat and then take it immediately afterwards and opposed to waiting even 15 or 20 min.
@ricecakes1216 Don't let your manager's goals for you factor into what you want. My old manager also wanted me to eventually take over for her, but management was not something I ever wanted to do. She respected my decision and helped me move in the path I wanted. If management is what you want to do, awesome. Wait it out. But if you'd rather be in the back office position then go for the open position now.
I am @wtfisup 's twinsie! I don't get/am not using a bedding set either and my shower is tomorrow too and I'm so excited! I have been kinda stalking the registry all day, heh.
I'm so bummed about a rug for the baby's room. So I posted in the nursery thread for those who haven't checked it out and finally found a rug I loved and that I think works in the room. When I found it, it was posted that it was 60% off and would have been about $70. So I add it to my cart and the coupon code won't apply. Check it the next day...says it's not on sale anymore and is now $175 (and is literally the only rug in the search function I set that's over $100). WTF?!?!
So back to square one....fuck. Finding a rug should not be this hard.
We are supposed to have pictures taken tonight and it's pouring. It's not supposed to stop all day. And I don't know what to wear. It's making me stabby.

I'm taking iron pills since I was discharged from the hospital after delivery. My rx label says to take them with orange juice. I don't get nauseas but then again I'm not pregnant anymore.

I totally see what you're saying. I can see myself being very happy in either position. I think that I have always thought that the back office position would be more attainable than the management, it's very sought after. After hearing what my manager had to say, it seems like management is more attainable, especially if we open an office that I would move for. Ah. H thinks I should stay in my position and pursue both. I am going to talk to my sister, she works for the same company but has a way awesome position and knows a lot so I guess she could guide me more.
@lest12 I've been taking one in the A.M and one before bed. The morning one is the one I struggle with. I'm going to try to take it at lunch tomorrow and see if that helps. I'm going to try the orange juice, too.
@emilyh107 - now that I think about it, I take both of mine before bed.. So if they make me sick, chances are I don't realize it.
