So, I was watching "More of the Business of Being Born" (the one with the celebrities telling their birth stories) and it got my little wheels turning. I know it's crazy early, but have any of you started thinking about what kind of birth experience you would like to have?
A doula with an unmedicated hospital birth?
A doula with a medicated hospital birth?
Midwife with a home birth?
All the pain meds you can find?
Somewhere in between?
Me? I'm toying with the idea of a home birth because I've heard so many stories of women being bullied into episiotomies, birthing in positions that weren't right for them, and so on...
I'm sure my husband would be much more comfortable in a hospital and me having a doula for support...
This is such an exciting time with SO many options available to us.

Anyway, when I contacted my local midwifery office with this pregnancy, they said they would only take me if I wanted a VBAC. (Which I do.) As things progress we will see if that will be at a nearby hospital (known to be VERY low intervention) or even at home.
I am considering a doula.... but really, midwives do such a great job... and my husband was amazing during my last labour. I don't know if I will bother.
I'll likely end up having a C-section anyway.
I just googled Bradley Method and I am now intrigued. Thanks! I like the idea of going drug free. My mom did with my older brother. It surprised me when I found out because I never really thought of her as being physically strong.

Like #1, we'll do hospital with a midwife without medication and low intervention. (hopefully)
I really prepared myself the first time around to expect the unexpected and if I needed drugs to take em or if it ended in a C-section that would be okay too. I thankfully had an uneventful, non medicated, 36 hour labor and delivery...and LOVED every minute of it
though I would like a little quicker delivery this time, less than 24 hours would be nice!

Now we have moved so hopefully this one is great too. I had a wonderful epidural and felt nothing
I had a medicated birth with an OB last time. I'm considering a medicated birth with nurse midwives this time. I've learned ob's are useless in the delivery room. They show up at the end to catch the baby. I would like more support than that. I may hire my sister. I haven't decided. I don't really want to fork over $600.
For me, a hospital birth just doesn't make sense. Teto but please do not make a blanket statement that home births are irresponsible when clearly you don't understand.
Doc already decided this will be another one & I do not mind at all .
If you think its irresponsible you really should look into the training and testing these ladies (and I suppose men) have to go through to become CPMs. It is quite a lot. Most people who deliver at home know to go to the hospital if a problem arises, and CPMs know when the hospital is needed.
