I can't believe how stressed out I am about these great job opportunities. The unemployment rate is still high yet I have 3 job opportunities to choose from and I'm stressed out of my mind.
I don't understand the logistics of showering with a baby.
@Mamasighs it's really quite simple. One of us is in the shower and preps the soapy washcloth and the other hands her in. The one in the shower lathers her up and rinses her off and then the other person is waiting with a towel to wrap her up and dry her off.
It's so quick and easy and so far her favorite method of being cleaned.
2. I forgot to pay a ticket and am now driving on an expired license. In all fairness, I ran a stop sign in a non blind area and was safe to pull out. So, I didn't see it as a big deal and I forgot.
I also suck at math. Sometimes I have to read the directions several times on my 2nd grade SDs homework to understand it and help her. What am I gonna do once she's in middle/highschool?!
@Asbromle I totally count with my fingers still because I am ridiculously bad at math. I return papers to my students & they always ask, "Mrs. W., what's a 9 out of 11?" I have no clue, that's why it just says 9/11.
@NKeading We are too... I did it at 11.5 mos with DD and no issues, we ran out and another can would have taken us past 12 mos and I wasn't doing that... she was completely off bottles by Christmas that year. She was down to 1 by her first birthday. All other milk was delivered in sippy cups.
I drug the high chair in the bathroom yesterday so I could shower without listening to an unhappy baby in his sit and scream (PnP). It was awesome. He sat there and ate puffs the whole time

Same here, we started to transition at 11 months and change with Corri (half formula, half milk, then 1/4 formula, 3/4 milk, etc.) and she was on fully milk by 1 year on the dot...we also ditched bottles at 13 months and went to straw cups, and hopefully will do the same with Gavin.
I also can't freaking wait to ditch the pump at 11 months and use freezer stash! I am going to have a ceremonial burning of that damn thing!
This isn't a FFFC because there's nothing wrong with it but it fits in the thread. We aren't doing cows milk. We'll transition off of formula around a year and won't do cows milk at all.
Just out of curiosity - what will you be using instead of cows milk?
This...
Based on what my Dr is telling me they need that fat for brain development, so I am guessnig you've got another route in mind... I'm curious.
I won't look at a BOAB thread just like I refused to open the " Ask anyone a question " thread from a few weeks ago even though I had a few notifications from there.
The last time I saw an "Ask anyone anything" thread was years ago and I watched as it ended up a gigantic shitstorm, resulting in many hurt feelings and internet friendships ruined. And honestly it was just mean.
I prefer the whole " if you have a problem with me, just tell me when it happens and we will move on " approach. ::: shrugs :::
The ask anyone anything thread wasn't mean-spirited. I guess it could have went in that direction, but it was all friendly...at least it seemed so to me. FYI no one asked me anything though.
that's awesome, J13 is much nicer than the other board I was one which actually was all sunshine and unicorns and fluffy puppies until the ask anything thread which turned it into a shitstorm of insanity.
My favorite line was when one girl said " is your fat ass jealous of all the shit that just came out of your mouth? "
I mean, obviously that was not a nice thing to say but I found it hilarious.
I have thought about using that line many times since then, omitting " fat " of course.
How about a respectfully think you're a twat-waffle thread?

I woke dh up in the middle of the night with a beej and sex. It was around 3, I then proceeded to make myself not 1, but 2 ham and cheese croissants. Diet? What diet?
Oh, andplusalso, sex makes me hungry. I almost always eat something after dtd.
There is nothing in cows milk that baby needs that can't be found in other foods. We may do rice or almond milk but we aren't cows.
I realize that formula is cows milk. She's getting it now for the beginning stages because my boobs failed me.
Ok, so then what other foods are you going to use to gain the fat content in the milk... I'm just curioius... it's an honest question and my question wasn't a jab at your decision, I was curious about what you would use in place of the milk to get the required fat content.
This isn't really a confession (although I admit I feel terribly lost) but it's on topic. We haven't been to a good pedi that I trust since Eva was 4 months (we will be seeing her good pedi just after she's 9months next month). The pedi here has been adequate but not my favorite. So in anticipation of seeing her good pedi next month I'm going to ask you guys. What's the deal with bottles? Is the goal to get babies off bottles and drinking from soppy cups /straw cups so they aren't 5 and still on the bottle?
Also at 12 months when we ween from bm or formula how much cows milk will they be drinking? Is that enough nutrition since they eat so little real food?
I asked the pedi at our 9mo appt yesterday if I could start giving cows milk in a cup in a month or two, just to introduce it so I can really start weaning at his birthday. I was surprised he said absolutely not. He is very old fashioned about a lot of things, so I thought he woul be okay with that. The thought of not BFing sounds like the most amazing thing in the world, but knowing I will at the very most get a 3 month break is depressing. @LauraC1122 I know what you meant, but it sure feels like we are cows.
I would have to check but I don't think other milks have the same amount of calcium and vitamin d recommended for LO's. If an alternative milk is used I would highly recommend discussing Ca + D supplement with the pedi.
I'm not sure that things have changed much, my Dr says WCM for fat content at 1. If we were adamently opposed to it, I'm sure he'd offer other suggestions, but since we're not and he seems to tolerate some of it now, I dont' see it being an issue, I was just curious. I'd not heard of anyone not doing WCM before I wasn't around on my old BMB long enough to hear any alternatives.
@Carrie3102 If you can, get your licensed straightened out. I was driving on one for 3 years and had no idea (a clerical air fuck up). I had been hauling horses all over the US and Canada and was totally oblivious to the whole thing. When I got pulled over (for speeding) and found out it was expired, it was a huge PIA. The cop was suppose to impound my truck (he was nice since it was raining, he let me go.) I had to go to court three times and pay an 800 dollar fine. It's also a criminal offense and is on your record. And insurance is a bitch. The company I work for insurance turned me away because of it, and I pay a shit ton out of my ass for my personal insurance. I was told when I went to court that I could fight it since it was a eff up on their side, but I was about to move to Montana and I just wanted to get it over with. If I had the time I should of fought it, cause it's been nothing but a PIA since.
@Robynloureed I totally straightened it out first thing this morning. I called paid the ticket, and called and paid the reinstatement fee, all told 200 bucks. I'm reinstated. So, hopefully I don't get anymore tickets, because well, i friggin forget about them... and I've never EVER had a ticket at all and now I've had 2 in the past 12 months! WTF?!
I'm literally too exhausted to even begin to think of a confession. I know I must have a ton of them because I've done a lot of stupid things in my mombie state this week.
I wasn't a fan of cows milk for a while. I stopped drinking it completely but now that there are antibiotic free options I will use them. But I won't give V the "regular milk".
But ca and Vit D are important for bone health and immunity.
Is there any reason you can't just keep giving BM and hold off on cow milk until 2 or later? If they still need the fat and nutrients in milk, why do we switch to the milk of another animal? Is it just for convenience?

We went to a sippy cup and that's all they used/allowed at daycare, so that helped make the transition easier on us. Though for the first week or two it was a struggle. Then at 18 mo, they changed rooms at daycare again and only gave them regular cups. We still use a sippy cup at home because she likes carrying her milk around. Some people go straight to cups though because they say sippy and straw cups don't teach them to sip properly, only suck.
And our pedi always told us she should be drinking 16-24 oz of WCM a day once fully weaned. Any more would fill them up and then they wouldn't eat solids as much, which they should be eating more of by that point. However, DD always drank more than the recommended 24 oz.

2. I stopped at Dunkin Donuts this morning and got some Munchkins. Finn is sitting on my lap and nomming on one now. At least it's not nitrates?

However, I don't need a separate thread for it if it's necessary I'll do it on the spot.
