What does high prog at 7dpo mean?

So I asked for a prog test this cycle because I'm pcos/annovulatory. Since I've had 2 bfn's I wanted to confirm I've def been ovulating with meds. Anywho, RN called last week and said my prog was like 46 at my 7dpo test which seems crazy high? Is this significant?

Re: What does high prog at 7dpo mean?

  • unfortunately, a high p4 is not  indicative of pregnancy. Especially since at 7dpo, more than likely implantation would have just occurred or hadn't occurred yet.  It just means that you had a good, strong ovulation, that you don't have any progesterone problems, and that it is a good level to support a pregnancy.

  • I had one similar to that on one of my Clomid cycles. ?I think it is indicative of a strong ovulation.

  • My first cycle on clomid, my p4 on 7dpo was 43.  RE said it indicated strong ovulation.  I remember being really excited, thinking it was a indicator of pregnancy but I ended up with a bfn....it was a big let down for me.  I don't even do p4 anymore which is kind of good for me because the more info I have the more hope (for the most part) I get and then it always leads into a huge let down.

  • My ob said anything above 15 was "strong ovulation" w/ a medicated cycle, but RE said that is false and doesn't really mean anything.  It could be 43 on 7dpo and 12 on 8dpo is what it sounded like to me.  Hope its a good thing though!
