Hi all! I am 34 weeks pregnant and 22 years old. A week ago I was diagnosed with DVT, a substantial blood clot in my leg. I was wondering if anyone else on here is going through the same thing?
I had a large DVT late in my last pregnancy. I was hospitalized for a month on a heparin IV until my son was born. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I had no knowledge about blood clots at all and it was very scary. This time I'm wearing compression stockings and on Lovenox. How are you doing? What kind of treatment have you been given?
Thank you for your response! It has been very scary! I was on a heparin IV while in the hospital. I was discharged about a week ago and I'm on Lovenox injections every morning now. So far, the pain has subsided quite a bit and I am able to walk around a little bit each day. As far as I know, I'll continue on the lovenox injections and modified bed rest for the duration of my pregnancy. Does the Lovenox make you feel more tired than usual?
I don't think the Lovenox makes you more tired? Or at least that's not a side effect I've been warned about or experienced. But I've read that recovering from a clot can make you tired as your body works hard to break it down. Have you made an appointment to see a hematologist? Definitely do that - they are going to keep me on blood thinners for at least a year post pregnancy. It's good to have an idea if you have underlying conditions that helped cause this.
My doctor advised me to see a hematologist after I have the baby, as my hormone levels will be all out of wack until after I have him. I'm going to be on lovenox for a few months after delivery.
I guess that does make sense, I'm probably just tired from trying to heal and being stressed out! Haha. Was delivery different while on lovenox? Did they take you off of it to have your baby? Was in natural or did you need a c-section? Sorry for all the questions! My baby is breech right now, so I'm trying to prepare for all possibilities, even though he still has time to flip around.
