In boot camp classes the instructor commonly walks around, instructing. You should try boot camp. ; ) In all the other classes I have taken the instructor participates.

I ask because I have taken classes off and on for probably 15 years and yesterday was the first cardio class I have ever taken where the instructor just gave instructions and then walked around. Not going to lie, I didn't want to see her yawning and checking her phone at 5:30 am! LOL! I would think part of the appeal of teaching would be keeping in shape. I asked my friend who recommended the class and she said that she never does the class.

I am terrified of boot camp!
I don't think you give yourself enough credit. I am sure you could do it.
At the smaller gym I take classes the trainer demonstrates the moves but doesn't do the class. These are more boot camp type classes of 5-8 people.
At the more mainstream gym I take classes, all of the instructors do the class. They may walk around helping people out, but for the most part they do the class. These are larger classes 15-20 people.
Always do the class except boot camp where she demonstrates and then walks around giving encouragement. Also, yoga instructors sometimes walk around to help with form.
Mostly does the class, with some breaks to walk around give tips/corrections/advice, etc.
This. But definitely doesn't just stand around while everyone else works. That's weird.
