OP, you want a good story about why it's rude to do this and/or the book instead of a card thing? Ok, tune up your sympathy violins, here goes:
Imagine your dear old Aunt Janet, a wonderful caring soul who lives on a small pension but loves all her nieces so very much. She's been looking forward to your shower ever since she heard you were expecting, carefully saving her pennies to get some yarn and knitting you a sweater and a baby blanket. There's love in each purl. <totally emotional violin music>
When she's got that lovely, handmade (but inexpensive, not-on-your-registry) gift finished, she gets your shower invite and notices that it says "bring expensive diapers" in really big print. Your dear old Aunt Janet falls back onto her dear old chaise lounge, limp with sorrow. She can't afford regular diapers for you, much less the fancy diapers. She thinks about the inexpensive (but lovely and handmade) present she was eagerly looking forward to giving you, and she thinks to herself, "oh, but my dearest niece won't have any enjoyment from a gift like that!" and your dear old Aunt feels like there is no place at the shower for her, since she can't celebrate it the way you specified on the invite.
tl; dr: Diaper raffles: just say no or dear old Aunt Janet will think you don't like her.
Oh, hello. Nice to meet you. What a lovely way to introduce yourself to this board.
You do understand that the fact that we are pregnant doesn't mean that everything we do is governed by hormones, right? We do, in fact, have some control over ourselves. You want to disagree with the points made here, fine, but you're going to have to come up with a better line of reasoning than "bah, hormones!"
The raffle part is what leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I would be mortified if my family members who are throwing my shower raffled off a prize to someone who gave me an extra gift. To each her own, I guess. But I would definitely roll my eyes if I received this with an invite. It's a shower-not a county fair!
Wow you all had quite the field day with this one!! Good going.
Just checking in, I'm just got back from my babymoon in Kauai and thought I would see how things are!!
It was so gorgeous and tropical! I had an amazing time being pampering the whole time by my doting and adoring hubby.
I think I'm also going to get one of those what are they called? Push presents? Yeah I want something sparkly like a diamond. I deserve it!!
Lmfao!!! Have a great day!!!!

She's just trying to rile up all us jealous bitches with her diamond encrusted push present. Because you know, this is grade 4. "Look at all the My Little Ponies my daddy bought me!"
Push present! Lol. OMG I was waiting for this to come up. Totally not jealous of you at 33 weeks in a bathing suit. I mean sure you look better than I do, but dude I even if I was as thin as I was in high school with just the belly, I still would want more clothes at this point. Personally I have zero desire to vacation when I can't eat and drink and truly relax, but to each their own I guess.
I normally wouldn't comment on this, but OP-coming back with some random update that is so braggy and snarky just screams totally immature to me. Oh and I will add to the posts I never want to see thread-AW of "push presents".
OMG guys and she has an adoring hubby. If only I'd thought to get one of those before I got knocked up maybe I too could have gone to Kauai!! Not that I'd ever waste the money on a trip to Hawaii when I couldn't even dive, drink or hike.
Also, am I the only person who thinks a push present is extremely patronising? "Thanks for pushing my kid out, sweetie! Here's a shiny trinket for you to play with!". What are you, a fucking magpie?

While we may not care, clearly the OP does. A great deal. Why else do you take the time to come back and reply to a long-dead thread and then also start an entirely new thread just to AW to a bunch of complete strangers?

Lol. This is funny because it's sad. Guarantee anything you get will be either too tiny or too crap quality to be worth AWing. Ladies with real money/class don't go around bragging about it. Nice try though.
I am totally jelly of her bikini body and trip to Hawaii! My stomach is filled with stretch marks from top to bottom and side to side. Plus I live in Massachusetts and this winter has been loooooong and coooold. (

I didn't request it by any means but I love the troll bracelet my husband got me with a bead that is DS's birthstone. I've since added birthstones for he and I and will get a May birthstone after this LO. It's nothing fancy but I'm not going to turn down a just because type of gift from DH.
Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!
