What to pack in the hospital bag

So, I read the thread about when to pack, but what about some essentials to put in it? With DS my water broke at 37 weeks and DH was in a panic to leave the house. I had a few things thrown together, but we never grabbed it. My mom ended up bringing me stuff at 11pm because there were a few things I needed (mainly contact solution and glasses). What do you ladies put in your bags?

Re: What to pack in the hospital bag

  • I put in comfy outfits for me including nursing tops. A comfy outfit and PJs for DH. Going home outfits for babies. Toiletries. A book, magazines, cell phone, camera, mini camcorder, iPad and chargers. We also have a mini cooler with snacks and will pack a few sandwiches for DH and some drinks. We will have the twin MBF nursing pillow in the car. I tried not to overpack. It's one small bag and the small cooler.

  • I just packed one going home outfit for each baby. No need for onesies.

  • I just wrote this in the when to pack thread, but I'll c&p it here....

For me I packed yoga pants, nursing tanks and bras, a few tshirts, a robe, underwear, bathroom supplies and hair dryer. I used everything but the underwear because I used the mesh underwear the hospital provided until I got home. I was able to shower and do my hair. It helped me feel normal while was there for 5 days. For the boys I packed two outfits (in case of an accident!) and a blanket to put over them in the car seat. The hospital provided clothes, diapers, and blankets while stay there.
