I was going to post a labour buddies thread soon (I'm not sure we're quite there yet) and start pairing up. I know some aren't really interested in it or don't get the concept but I just think it's cute havin a buddy. So, I know I'll be doing it.

ETA: also let's not forget. We agreed to have a labour thread so there aren't a bazillion posts about who's in labour and who thought they were in labour.

Wait I never agreed to this! I want my own SS AW thread damn it! Plus, I kind of like the idea of having separate support threads. We don't do it for any thing else, why not for the main event?

It'll probably work the same way the name thread works. You know, everyone is supposed to post there but, fuck that, I want to be special kind of thing lol but a lot of ppl said they wanted it when I first posted the labour buddy thread a while back.

Thanks I didn't even notice that.  Do they even sell that stuff there?  If Nutella is adding themselves to the registry that is damn near genius marketing.

Edited: because I have no idea how to reply and just learned how to tag properly.

  • So, wait, maybe I've been looking at this wrong on other BMBs, but I thought you are supposed to start your own thread with your COMPLETED birth story, (or in progress, but go back to update it) and then you link it in the Main Birth Announcement thread so if people want to search for you, they can pull it up from there?

This is what I have been seeing as well.  Everyone gets their own post that people can comment on, but then there's one pinned post where all the announcements and stories are linked.
    This is intense.
    And way too much IMO.

Haha, I have no idea. That would be some genius marketing though.

They do. It's in small packs for snacking with the other kid snack stuff they have.

Wait, @jensavicci, is that how you spell labor? When did you go British or Canadian on us?

One of my friends is also pregnant right now and her shower is coming up next week.  I went to look at her registry at BBB and saw something on there that I didn't recognize as a baby item.  Now I love me some Nutella but damn, on your registry?????  Cravings + scan gun = mistake

It says that 0 were requested. Is Nutella paying to be put on registries?
It also says 2 were purchased. That is awesomesauce.

Lol I'm a traitor sorry. I just like spelling.

Haha I went over to the "Birth Stories" board after that horror story thread we had on here (looking for some rainbows and puppies) and so many of the "birth stories" were just ridiculous.  I do not get at all why women post super long paragraphs involving every minute detail of the day they gave birth for complete strangers!  It's so weird!  And a lot of the women would say things I like, "I always enjoyed reading these when I was pregnant, so here's mine!"  Seriously?!  Other people enjoy that much detail?  Save that level of detail for the baby book and your moms, ladies.

I haven't been with my district long enough to get pay out for my unused sick time at the end of this year (I'm resigning my current position). I was just told that I can not use my sick time as a bloc of time off at the end of this year...like a 3 week of maternity leave essentially. I'm pissed, why the hell not?! I'm going use those days anyways now I just am being forced to take one day off at a time.
Grrr I mean really?!?!  I'm pissed!

I've been with my district for 12 years and we are not allowed to do this. We can only use accumulated sick time for a medical maternity leave. Because my child is due at the beginning of July, the 6 weeks, my medical need to leave work will be just about up when it's time to return.

There is a way to use that leave, but you need a doctors note. If you work close enough to your deliver date your doctor may write you a note for "impending labor." I had a note last school year week 39. My job is 18 miles from the hospital and my doctor wasn't going for that.

  • I was just on FB and stumbled across this picture of a girl holding baby blocks that spelled out "oh shit" with a boy in the background. It got me curious so I had to check it out. (It showed up in my news feed because a friend of mine liked it. No idea who they are.) Apparently these people haven't been together for a full year yet and are already pregnant with #2! Is it just me, or is this crazy?

  • I seriously hate the sound of things scratching on metal.

Washing a giant load of baby clothes we were given tonight I've discovered all those little snaps in my dryer sounds like someone threw a couple handfuls of gravel in there before turning it on.

The idea of doing baby laundry now makes my skin crawl......
Yeah, that is annoying. Can you run the dryer at night and not hear it?

I'm thinking about trying it out.. but our bedroom is close enough to the utility room I'm not sure if it will totally block it out.

Maybe this will be a good excuse to make SO do baby laundry when I'm not home LOL
It's an extra step, and not something you probably won't want to do if there's a blow out, but if you take the time to snap everything closed before going in the wash, that'll take care of the noise.  Granted, you'll then have to unsnap it all to put it back on the kid, but if the noise is that awful to you, it may be worth it.

I had my thoughts that it wasn't true. They didn't even show a picture of the woman and it's on a random site. But, it still fascinated me. Reminded me of the movie castaway.
  • I have a prospective client that wants to meet tonight at 7pm at a NYC restaurant. I'm ready to cry. AND the home button is missing off my iPhone. I really hope an Apple Store will replace it.

That's craziness. You wouldn't get home until after 11. Can't you reschedule? Also, if you actually drive into the city, you're a better woman than I am.

This is the 3rd doctor in 4 months to make the 7pm meeting request. I've been doing this for 5 years now. Only NYC doctors make this request.

Normally I drive, but today I'm taking Amtrak. I won't get home until almost 1am

  • I'm so annoyed with everyone today... blah.

Way too busy being annoyed with myself to have time for others today....
  • I have a head cold and I just want to take some Alka-Seltzer cold medicine. It's depressing how much a cold can bring you down when you can't take any meds to help with it :-( Normally, I would take medicine and go about my day as normal, but I think I am heading home soon.
