bathroom issues towards end...

Sorry if TMI, but for the past 2 weeks I've had some constipation issues. Some days I never go or when I do it feels nearly impossible & is painful. Does this have anything to do with getting towards the end of the pregnancy? Never had problems before...

Re: bathroom issues towards end...

  • It's different for everyone. For the past week, I've been having 5+ bowel movements every day, and they're all soft. Even with your constipation now, you'll probably have loose stools for a day or 2 before your labor begins - it's your body's natural way of cleaning before birthing.

  • I think constipation does have a tendency to return in 3rd tri. As WOAC said, that will change at the end. I have been drinking tons of water and eating high fiber to try to combat the constipation and it has helped.

  • I have been taking 2 colace nightly for almost 9 months. I would try that!
  • I was and my bowl or two of raisin bran a day lots of water and raw veggies have helped immensely. Hope it gets better soon!

I've been insanely constipated for 9 months. I have a terrible history of constipation anyways, coupled with all the hormones I took the entire first tri and now there being no room, it's been a nightmare. I take 2-3 colace every day and still go only maybe 1-2 a week (if that!) even with a high-fiber diet and exercise and it's awful every time. I've also had the wonderful experience of dealing with really bad external hemi's since 16 weeks. It's awful. I look forward to the clean out that WoaC mentions :)

Definitely try the Colace and good luck!!!! I hope things get better soon.

  • I swear every time it go to the bathroom I have a bowel movement. I don't know which is worse going to much or not enough! Feel Better though.
  • I've had diarrhea for the past 2 weeks along with my contractions, my doctor says it normal but I need to make sure I stay hydrated. Like I've said I'm so over this pregnancy, I'll be more then happy to go into labor. I'm ready to have a normal poo again.
  • I was constipated almost the entire pregnancy, but these past two weeks, things have been moving nicely.  Which is nice for me, because I always seem to have some issues when it comes to that, even when I am not pregnant.

  • I had bad constipation- take stool softeners or prune juice or something before it's too late! Mine got REALLY bad. I won't go into detail. My doctor said it's normal as gut motility slows down in the 3rd tri

  • I don't remember the last time I pooped more than a few acorns. It is a pretty normal symptom, and the best advice I can give is to stay hydrated and load up on fiber. A strong cup of coffee also helps keep things moving.

  • I've been going several times a day for the past few days and woke up to my first raging external hemorrhoids... I am not a happy camper. Between that and the ligament/pelvis stretching pain I have- I can hardly walk anymore!
