Baby swing?

Are you still using one?  LO naps so easily and wonderfully in his, but I think he's getting too squirmy for it.  He's still within the weight limit, but it only has a lap belt and tray, not a 5-point harness.  I think he'll soon be able to hang over the side of it or bend forward too much (if the tray isn't in place) if I let him keep using it.   We've been trying to put him down to nap in his pack-n-play instead, and sometimes he goes right to sleep but other times it's a real struggle for the poor guy to get settled.

  • We still use ours, but we wouldn't be using it without the 5 point harness. She leans forward way too much.

  • We have a MamaRoo. E decided he hated his (and sleep!) at 6-ish weeks. I may have DH dig it back out though. It just has the lap belt but it's pretty sturdy, I don't think he could bail out

  • On that note, I think our changing table will also have to go soon.

  • DD1 used it and slept in it until she was at least 9 months old. It has a 5 point harness, though.

DD2 will use it if she has a cold/is stuffy from teething but doesn't have the same love for it that her sister did.

We had borrowed one from a friend that was smaller. Even with the 5 point harness I was nervous putting DD2 in it, and she's pretty tiny.

We haven't used ours in a while but I am thinking of pulling it back out as well. Jr still fits within the weight range and although ours does not have a 5 point, I don't think he could bail from his either. It is pretty sturdy and I would probably just use it to keep him occupied while I do a bit of homework and such.

ETA: apparently it does have a 5 point.

  • We don't use it, but I think MIL does when she watches the kids at our house. I would love to get rid of that thing

  • He's been too fat (read: it won't swing at the proper speed because he is too heavy) for the swing since 4mo. It's sad too because he used to love napping in that swing.

This, except that he never napped much in the swing anyway. He also started sitting up/leaning forward pretty early, so we ditched the swing and bouncer, neither of which had 5 pt harnesses.

We have the swing, 5pt harness. Same as he fits the wt limit. He naps so much better in the swing. He also just loves to sit and chill in there. Like a little chill chair. We'll have it out for a bit longer.

We've had it on the highest speed setting for a while now to keep it moving at a decent pace.

  • It's still out but I'm trying to get away from it. She sleeps like a champ in the swing but then I have to tip toe around downstairs not to wake her. Plus she's a chunker & I'd like the motor to last for lo#2 down the road.

  • No swing since 4 months.

We sold it on Craigslist a few weeks ago! Sad to be getting rid of all the baby stuff...

  • DD doesn't use the actual swing anymore. She just tries to crawl out, even with a 5 pt harness.

However, the seat separates as a bouncer and we still use that quite a bit. She'll sit on it on the floor with a couple books or toys while I wash dishes, cook, or shower.

If the bouncer didn't detach though, we probably would put it on CL.

  • Ours broke in December. I'm pretty sure I had a nervous breakdown about it because he had been sleeping in it pretty much 24/7. Switching him to the crib was HELL. But I guess now I'm glad we did, though it sure would be nice to have it around sometimes.
  • DD naps in her swing still everyday! We'll transition to the crib for naps soon. I keep putting it off...

  • We still use ours daily. She loves it. She pretty much will only sleep in the bed with us or in the swing. That being said the swing hasn't worked in almost 5 months (it was a hand me down or I would have returned it). But she doesn't care. She just loves the way it cradles her! Ours does have the 5 point harness though and I wouldn't dare put her in one without it! We learned our lesson a few months ago when I put her in the swing and only buckled her lap. She was wide awake and playing while I was cleaning up but I heard some whining after only a couple minutes and went to inspect and she was completely upside down with the straps tangled around her legs! Definite mommy fail.
