I'm sorry if this has been asked. I'm not very good at mobile searching.

Do you ktan mommies have any tips/tricks of how to smoothly get LO out of the ktan from the kangaroo hold?

Ive yet to get him out where he stays sleeping so I can lay him down.

Also.. besides the kangaroo hold, what position does your little one like? Does your SO or DH wear it also? Did you have to talk him into it or were they easily willing?

Tia

psa. Ktan has the sage green ktan on sale (st. Pattys day related) for $37.50 and ends today.

Newborn hug hold is the only one she will tolerate.  I just wait until she's realllllllly asleep and then move her to the swing or RNP.  If I put her in the bassinet or crib, she wakes up.

ETA: DH will only use the bjorn when they are old enough to face forward.  He doesn't like any of the other carriers and even that one is iffy.

If LO is really out, I take the outer loop off, then slip my hand inside the inner loop, 'hug' her( trying to replicate the pressure the ktan hugs her), and take the inner loop down. Then she is free to put in what ever holder of your choice.

Grant it this doesn't always work.

I do this too, but I try to be sitting down when I take him out. I feel sturdier somehow.

  • Hum.. I only take her out asleep when we are out and she has to go into a car seat. Otherwise a sleeping baby stays where ever she passed out.

I also put our sleep sheep in the ktan when out and about to help keep her calm in startling places. I hope it helps, no proof. I keep the sleep sheep going during transfer.

Maybe stay standing with some movement, to keep up the movement like walking? Not that is easy, but worth a shot?

Great idea with the sleep sheep! I have a wubanubs giraffe that I stuffed in there the other day. Took off the ktan and realized wubs was riding in my cleavage!

I'm all for let a sleeping baby sleep, but sometimes once he's passed out I'm ready for a time out.

I will give you guys suggestions a try!

  • Gah, the number of times I find a soothie in the cleavage is embarrassing. When I lose one, it's now the first place I look now. At least it's always close to the real thing :D

  • Lol had it not been attached to a giraffe who know when it would have been discovered.

  • I did a test run once before tried
with LO, so I would know the mechanics before adding a wiggly baby. It's very easy to put use. Two loops you put on as a necklace, then put an arm through each loop to make an X on your chest. Move one loop down, put baby in loop across chest, move lower loop up to support baby/loop combo. Adjust loops for your comfort as needed. Done.

This shows how to do just one position, but it is basically the same. Just change how LO sits.

Is the k'tan pretty easy to use? I am borrowing a moby but it is a PITA plus makes me too hot, and also borrowing an ergo but I can't use it without help because I can't reach the buckle that goes across the shoulders. I was thinking of the k'tan breeze...will it be worth it?
I love mine, it's small so packs in the diaper bag, easily goes in the wash because spit up/pee (although mine shrunk), I can put it on without help, and compared to other carriers I thought the price was great. I'm a fan!

  • I love it. I cant put on one handed which is helpful when hes full scream.

If you get one, I recommend going a size smaller than what you think you need. If its too big it can be uncomfortable and baby sags (unsafe)
