So, I pretty much stole this from TTCAL. Something very similar was posted a few weeks ago, but I've always been curious about it and I thought the one they had posted was really good.
What is your job title and what does it mean (what the heck do you actually do all day at work?)
On a scale of 1-10 how much do you like your job? (Explain)
If you could have any job in the world what would it be and why?
Re: GTKY: jobs/careers
I would love to be a Special Education teacher which is what I am currently working towards. I have always wanted to teach so hopefully I will be in the classroom real soon.
I would rate it an 8. I loved the work but it could be uber stressful and my boss had a habit of taking on extra files which was awful if it was already super busy.
BFP April 24, 2018 | EDD December 29, 2018
I'd probably rate it about a 7 or 8. I absolutely love being a nurse, but can be super stressful (more often than not). Some days it takes a lot of emotional motivation for me to get myself through the door, because it is a lot to handle, both physically and emotionally. But most of the time, I love what I do. I can't imagine doing anything else. The thought of being stuck behind a desk bores me.
Eventually, I think I'd love to be per diem and be a SAHM (per diem means that I only work "as needed". I can pick up as few or as many hours as I want... I'm not contracted into working 32-40hrs per week). So I could work 1 day a week if I wanted. I don't think I could ever give up my career completely, which is why I'd love to be per diem.

I'd say about a 6. I like my hours (Mon-Thurs) with approx 8-10 weeks holiday a year. I disagree with a lot that my boss says, and that makes it hard somedays because we sit so close to each other for long hours. He does not like us to have a social life with other and would rather us to not speak to each other in the office so that is also hard because there are only 5 of us there.
I want to open my own bridal store. DH and I have fun thinking of names. It would never happen unless I become a millionaire somehow

I am a registered nurse in the well baby nursery. I go to deliveries and once they cut the cord, it's handed to me. It's my job to do initial resuscitation and assign APGAR scores, transition babies who need a little help, facilitate bonding and breastfeeding, and I also can have up to 7 babies assigned to me that I keep checks on with vital signs, feedings, etc. We also draw blood if needed. And snuggle sweet babies all night.

Is say 9/10. My ultimate job would be a SAHM, but it's not feasible for us and won't be. Since I have to have a job, this is the one i'd want.
If you could have any job in the world what would it be and why?
Id love to be Belle in Disney World. How much fun would that be?

So anyway, I test students (currently K-8th grade) for special needs such as autism and emotional disturbance. I provide counseling to students in special education, develop IEPs, consult on behavior problems and basically play and talk with kids all day.
On a scale of 1-10, I'd given it an 8. I have the coolest job and the best schedule. I can bring reports home if I need to, pick up my daughter after school, and meet some amazing kiddos. They are the diamonds in the rough in my opinion. They may have disadvantages, but they certainly compensate for them. The summers off aren't bad either!
If I could have any job, I would be an obstetrician or L&D nurse. If I had the skills and money, I would flip houses or be a pilot!

My dream job would be to work backstage for either a concert or Broadway show. I ADORE the performing arts and would love to be a part of it.
On a scale of 1-10 how much do you like your job? (Explain): 8; some days I wish I was just a regular tech without the responsibilities of a manager. Mostly it's great and really interesting--we are a part of many different research projects that go for grants and publications so it's never one sole focus of research.
If you could have any job in the world what would it be and why? I would love to work in a bakery. I love to bake and I wish I had more time to devote to it. And the customers would mostly be happy and nice--who isn't in a good mood when they grab a cookie or a cupcake?
No I'm a SAHM, so I'm a maid, chef, landscaper, accountant and I run a taxi service. In my free time I take on the roll of a contractor.
ETA: I posted to soon.
I would rate my job now a 10 when I worked outside the home a 6. I enjoy being able to be there for my son. I do miss working outside the home for adult company but I always hated missing my boys school and after school activities because of work. So I volunteer at my sons school book store to fulfill the adult company need and it allows me to be more involved in what's going on at school. My son also enjoys me being at his school during the day.
On a scale of 1-10, I would say an 8. It gets really stressful some days, but for the most part I absolutely love what I do!
My dream job would be to open my own counseling practice, and I'm hoping that dream will become a reality some day!! I don't know if I will always specialize in addictions though, Id like to eventually branch out into other teen issues like bullying and eating disorders.

Jan 15 NOV siggy challenge:
If I could have any job in the whole world it would be something where I was my own boss and could make my own hours. I hate the 9-5 grind, coming and going with everyone else and answering to a boss I have no respect for. As far as what I would do for my own business? I would either own a doggy day-care/kennel or a small health food store.
What is your job title and what does it mean (what the heck do you actually do all day at work?) I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist: I find, screen, evaluate, refer to other disciplines, treat and manage my caseload of kids from kindergarten to twelfth grade. I work with a variety of kids, who have articulation (sound) disorders to language disorders, stuttering/fluency difficulties, programming AAC (augmentation alternative communication) devices- anything and everything dealing with communication.
I also work PRN (as needed) for two local nursing homes. I provide feeding/swallowing evaluations & treatment, also cognitive and speech evaluations & therapy on weeknights or weekends when needed and I am able.
On a scale of 1-10 how much do you like your job? (Explain)
I would say 7-8 at my full time. I'm the only one at my school so I get pretty lonely. I have to figure out a lot of things on my own when I'm involved in a unique situation, which is fine but I'm usually limited on time. I have back to back sessions all day long. Also the workload can be a bit crazy since it's just me. But I do have summers off. That's a huge perk.
If you could have any job in the world what would it be and why?
Honestly I would love to work with neonatal feeding and swallowing, I always have. I have no idea how I would even get there at this point.
I also teach parenting classes, the women I work with are CPS involved and many have lost their kids to the system and are fighting to get them back.
The best parts are the success stories, it's humbling and awe inspiring to watch someone turn their life around. also the babies!!! I'm always chillin with a baby on my lap, I just love it.
The pay is ass and it has me thinking about switching fields which makes me sad.
What is your job title and what does it mean (what the heck do you actually do all day at work?)
I am a Police Officer. I conduct traffic stops, respond to calls of service, write reports/file charges, make arrest and testify in court. I work in a large tourist city, so I deal with drunks, prostitutes, burglars, and the little ol lady that walks her dogs and poops in her neighbors yard without picking it up...and everything in between..lol..it can be really fun especially the foot and car chases (the TV show COPS in a pretty good depiction of the crazy calls we recieve).
On a scale of 1-10 how much do you like your job? (Explain)
I enjoy by job and would give it an 8-9 on really exciting days and a 5-6 on stressful days. I can see some really horrific scenes.
If you could have any job in the world what would it be and why?
My passion is the study of the mind and peoples behaviors. My dream job is a Criminal Profiler, but there is such a small demand and a large pool of candidates, I dont think its an avenue for me to persue. So with my degrees in Psychology and Sociology, I will probably go into some type of counseling. On my job, I put temporary band-aids on situations. I want to provide more of a long-term solution in the assistance that I give to people!
On a scale of 1-10 how much do you like your job? (Explain) It's probably a 8-9. I work from home, which has been awesome for me. However, working from home means that I miss out on a lot of opportunities that those in the home office have, so I worry that down the road it will be hard for me to advance. Trying to decide if I care, because I love working from home SO MUCH.
If you could have any job in the world what would it be and why? Hmmm...probably a writer of some sort.
My work is focused on investigating how cells of the blood vessel respond to an injury that alters the mechanical environment the cells experience within the context of a particular protein pathway related to the actin cytoskeleton. its a little complicated so I usually say I am a scientist or that I run a mouse bordello since I time-breed a lot of mice and have to keep track of when they were impregnated and the exact dates of the embryos to isolate them/tissue at a particular date.

I LOVE my job! Perfect job for eventually a family. Never a weekend and a four day work week. On a scale I would say a 9.
Dream job would be to have a large barn and be an equine trainer (horse trainer). Horses are my passion. Would love to wake up everyday to that!
I'm at maybe a 7. I don't always love the day-to-day of what I'm doing and it's not directly related to my interests, but I love the people I work with and I have tons of flexibility. (I decided to work from home today so I'm on the couch with my cat.)
I'd like to be a SAHM, but that's not in the cards for us for a few years. I'm likely going to be getting a new job within the hospital I work at in Quality Improvement this summer, and I'm really excited about the possibility. I'm not sure it'll be my dream job, but I'm ready for a change.
@ joneka right now all that I have is a bachelor's degree in psychology, but I am 12 credits away from a Master's Degree in Counseling. The pay is pretty low for full time (low 30's) but will go up a bit when I get my degree. I will need to keep working at a facility where I am supervised for 3,000 post Masters hours in order to be a New York State licensed mental health counselor. Different states have different req's, but you always get a provisional license first and then have to work for so many hours to get the full licensure.
It's a really great field despite the low pay, and when I open my own practice I hope to make closer to 60K. Best of luck if you decide to take this path, you can always PM me for more info too!
