My LMP was Jan 25th 2014. I had a positive pregnancy test on Feb. 24th (1 day before my period was due) So I thought I was 8 weeks pregnant. I had an US this week and the tech said I am actually only 6 weeks pregnant. Is this even possible? Does that I mean I found out I was pregnant within 4 days of conception?! Is that even possible? This is my first pregnancy so I am super confused....

What did the tech see on the u/s that she dated you at 6 weeks? If you ovulate later than day 14, you would be earlier than you thought, but a +hpt 4 dpo would be very unlikely. My current pregnancy was a "slow starter," measured only about 4.5 weeks when I thought I was 6 which did not make sense with when my +HPT was. However, the most recent u/s baby was measuring 3 days ahead.

She saw the fetus with a heart rate of 107. She said everything looked good. Thank you for your post, it makes me feel better. I have been really worried. This is my first pregnancy and I have been having cramping and spotting from the beginning. Thank you!

My lmp was jan 25th and tested positive on 2/20. When I went in for my appointment last week I was expecting to be 7w4d and they changed it 6w4d. My doctor wasn't concerned.

Seeing a fetus with a heart beat is a positive sign - the heartbeat starts about week 6, and is slow in the beginning. They also measure the fetus crown to rump and the size also gives you an estimate of how far along the baby is at that point. The next ultrasound would likely be definitive in viability - if the baby continues growing and heartbeat remains present. Maybe your doctor would do another one in a week or 2 to ease your mind? Thank you so much for the post. I was going to call my Doctor tomorrow to follow up. I never talked to my Doctor or a nurse after the U/S except for the U/S tech. Does the Doctor usually talk to you after an U/S to follow up or do you just go by what the U/S tech says? Just curious, like I said I am so new to all of this. Thank you so much!

Definitely go by the ultrasound. I was actually almost two weeks behind based on my lmp. We went in thinking I was almost 9 weeks when I was really right at 7. The heart was going at 141. Doctor wasn't concerned even when I asked her if I should be. Which I has quit my bc so she said that possibly could have done something and my periods before bc were always irregular.

This time table is almost exactly what happened to me last year. Unfortunately it did not end well for me. Hopefully you just ovulated late and everything's fine.

You would've been in your sixth week of pregnancy from Feb 14th to Feb 21st. I'm not sure when your ultrasound was or if they told you a certain day within your sixth week.

Just wanted to leave an update. My spotting has continued even become bright red at times. I went for an U/S yesterday and the fetal HR was lower, the tech never told me the heart rate but I think I saw 86. She did not give me any pictures this time or tell me anything so I figured it was not good. I met with the doctor after and he said the fetal HR was lower and it looks like the beginning of a miscarriage. He told me to come back Monday for an U/S. I will update on Monday.
