We bought baby girl's dresser from a local company that refurbishes vintage furniture. It turned out so beautiful! We are still trying to pick out a crib, and wont have an actual nursery until we find a house in the next month!
I love your dresser!! We're hoping to find something similar to that!
We need to get DD a new bed so we can set up her crib in our room. I think my MIL and I are going to go look for a dresser for DD2 and then I can go through As clothes and figure out what to keep and toss.
I'm working on the downstairs this weekend and trying to de clutter and reorganize so we have room to add another human being. Dh isn't being very cooperative. He's not good with change.
I feel like a total slacker now! Before DH deployed, he moved everything out of the home office, so I have unpacked the crib pieces, but haven't even put it together yet. I picked out paint colors, but haven't bought them yet. Guess it's time to get started!
everything is so cute!!! We have been renting the room that will be the nursery. I won't be able to set it up for another month or two :0( Everyones makes me want to get going even more!
Everyone's nursery a look amazing. We have pretty much emptied the room and bought paint samples today but still need to remove a closet before anything else gets done. Our furniture came in but is still boxed up in the room. Hopefully we get some work done next weekend
Choosing a theme for the nursery is probably the most stressful thing for me. DH wants something "meaningful," not just simple like Disney because what can the kid learn for that. I just want it to look good, so give me a direction to go with so I can figure it out. His suggestions? The 4 elements, Philosophy & Literature, Music, History. WTH? How do you do a nursery around these ideas. They are so freaking broad that I can't even begin to wrap my head around them to figure out how you would narrow it down to actually do something nice. He argues that you pick the broad theme and then figure it out. Um no, that's not how it works for me. Just needed to vent. He's really frustrating me tonight with this.
FWIW, DS's room is a travel theme it it's great. DH did come up with it and then I was able to run with that, I just can't seem to jump on board with anything else he's coming up with for this kid and he's getting frustrated with me because I haven't come up with my own suggestions, but his criteria of it being "meaningful and thought provoking" makes it pretty damn hard.
This thread ramps my nesting up big time! We haven't even purchased anything yet and our nursery is still an office. We're waiting until May/June to get it all set up because we're waiting until after the baby shower.

Are y'all musical in any way? If so, there are some cute ideas out there.
If neither of you are musical though, I would think that theme is kinda too random. The other things you mentioned are too old for babies (IMO).
Went out and bought a rug, throw pillows, and artwork yesterday plus we're picking up the crib a friend is giving us today - all thanks to reading this thread . Now I feel a little more on top of things nursery decorating wise.
Will post a photo later when DH gets home with the items still in the back of the car - oops. Went to take a picture of them yesterday and managed to accidentally get hit in the face by a frisbee from my 12 year old throwing to DH. Then spent the next half hour with an ice pack on my face and completely forgot to take one.
Ok since our house is still under construction and we haven't started on the babies room, I thought I would just share what we're doing for lil man. First pic is the wall decal that will go over his crib, second pic is the paint scheme and the third pic is the letters I'm going to attempt to paint for the dresser wall...everything will be brown, tan and a hint of blue
@mrscurlygurl I've seen those ideas san they are nice, but just aren't hitting it for me. I played the cello through high school and DH played the sax when he was younger, but that'd be the extent of our musical capabilities. I think he's thinking more album covers and posters of musicians we like. We talked about it more this morning and decided we're going to just put a whole mix of things we like (music, books, family mementos, etc...) and find a common thread to bring it all together in the colors/fabrics we pick out.
I'm late to this, but we've been working on the 'Nerdsury' a bit. We still need our rocker (it will go next to the door where the edge of that beanbag chair currently is) and then to fully outfit it with baby supplies and stuff. And removing the litter box obviously. So far we have emptied the room of most of the extra junk, painted, done the mural wall, put the crib together and done window coverings. I'm happy so far, but can't wait to keep going!
Haven't finished picking out everything for the walls, and a friend of mine is making the crib bedding using some fabric I picked out, but we have painted and started to put some things together. Still need a glider! Everyone's rooms look so good! Makes me want to finish mine! Sorry for the double posting of the pics. Having trouble getting my phone to delete one set of them.
I'm so jealous. We are having to abruptly move mid pregnancy and I'm a super planner so wasn't expecting this for multiple reasons but because of this, I haven't been able to start my nursery. Now that we are moving, I'm hoping my theme or ideas will work well into the new house we will be renting.
Haven't really started converting the guest room into a combined guest/nursery yet, however I have to AW this recliner/rocker we just scored today for $100 off craigslist!
Loving all the rooms! We can't make the switch till DS is in his big boy bed and that won't be till the end of April. I did start pulling out and organizing all the newborn clothes though. That made me feel like I'm not totally slacking.
@rachelchristina I love this ...we are doing stripes too...how did u get yours so accurate?
Thank you! We measured how thick we wanted each stripe and at each line we used a laser level that you attach to the wall...and taped following that line. It took forever, but was worth it in the end! Looking forward to seeing your stripes!
We are in the process of installing laminate in the nursery and the master (which are attached). Then we have two dressers to sand and paint. I can't wait to start putting everything in the nursery!
Meanwhile everything from our master, the nursery and our closet is strewn across our home and we are living in complete chaos. Oh and my alternator on my car went out on me this weekend. Awesome.
I love all these rooms!! So cute and inspiring! I will not be doing our nursery for a while, we are closing on our new house Thursday and then we have to remodel...I'm a bit bummed but hopeful I can get it done by LO arrival!
