Trying to Get Pregnant

Positive OPK on CD 10

Question? I usually O around CD 16 however this morning with digital OPK I got a smiley face on CD 10. Is that too early? I realize I could O in the next 48 hours, but it is unusual for me. Thoughts?

Re: Positive OPK on CD 10

  • Also has anyone heard not to test OPK with FMU?

You can get an LH surge and not actually ovulate. It is possible to ovulate earlier than what you usually do. Are you also temping to confirm ovulation?

Read the package of whatever OPK you're using and that will tell you if you should be using FMU or SMU.

  • You can check my old chart-- the month I got KU with our last baby I O'ed 10 days earlier than usual. So it's possible, or you could just be gearing up to O.

  • I always tested twice when using OPKs-- morning and afternoon. I didn't use digitals though just cheapies.

  • I got an almost positive on a Wondfo starting on CD10, and I normally ovulate on CD17.  It stayed almost positive for two days before fading away and never turning completely positive.  The only way you'll really know for sure what is going on is to temp.  You could be ovulating early, you could just be gearing up to O soon, or you could be having a surge that does not result in ovulation.
  • Totally possible. I ovulated on CD13 and last cycle was CD21. Digi's like FMU (the instructions say FMU or hold your urine for at least 4 hours). It might be a random surge and you might not O, but HIO to be safe!
  • It's definitely possible. With my first pregnancy, I got a positive opk on CD10 and CD11, then ovulated on CD12 (I was temping). It's actually the earliest I've ever ovulated and the only successful pregnancy I've had.  Good luck!

I use the cheapo wondfo opk strips and always use smu.
