Being a mother

Is so so so so sad sometimes. I get so emotional about how fast his babyhood has gone by. I'm lying in bed at 10:30 and I am forcing myself not to go pick him up and rock him. I used to curse those motn wakings. Remember? Now I look at pics and it hits me that he is a little boy now. It's so sad sometimes. But then at the same time he's awesome and funny and perfect. But I want time to slow slow slow down. My sweet boy. Anyone else wishing they could enjoy this time at a slower pace?

Re: Being a mother

  • Yes! I wish I was here for more of it. I work long hours and  I've had a lot of conferences and interviews this year, so I've been gone for a few days at a time. I had the same thought today "she's a little girl". What really breaks my heart is that if I do my job correctly. If I raise a confident, independent woman, she will leave. She will leave the house in 16 years and start a life of her own. I'll be happy for her but, man, the thought of being without her is so tough.

  • I totally get it.  It's like suddenly she's a "big kid".  I watch her play with her princess castle and she's actually playing.  Baby #2 is arriving in the next few weeks and I'm definitely having a hard time viewing DD as the "big sister".  It's going to be totally weird going through the newborn phase again.

I can't believe how quickly our "babies" are growing! I love the new skills but I miss the snuggles. I held a friend's new baby last week and had totally forgotten how cuddly a newborn can be.

  • I love the big girl that K is becoming. I try to get my snuggles at naptime. She surprised us last night and threw away her own diaper. She has never been told or taught how. It is sad, but very exciting.

Yes! I got very sentimental around DD's birthday. I was looking back at pics of her as a newborn sleeping and realized I don't get to watch her sleep anymore. Those nights of rocking her to sleep that got so overwhelming and exhausting were also the nights I was able to just gaze at her while she slept and watch her cute little facial expressions :)
It's true to enjoy every stage because they grow so fast! And each stage has something that I'll miss. Including the one she's in now, which I'm also loving
